question about powernet in a beledi dress

I have a great dress, but there is a tiny pinhole in the mesh on the sides. Do you guys know what would keep it from getting bigger? Does the clear nail polish trick work??? Thanks!

I think I would use Fray Check (or "Chek"?) from fabric store and apply a teeny bit, just enough to seal the threads. Maybe dip pointy end of a toothpick in the Fray Check and use that as an applicator. Applying directly from the bottle, you might get more than you wanted.

What color is the mesh? Fray check made by Dritz can turn whitish when it dries. If it's a dark mesh, that may be a problem.

"Aleene's Stop Fraying" dries clear. Rosettes's idea of using a small amount is a good one. The toothpick applicator or a small craft paint brush would work.

I had a major problem with Fray Check leaving VERY white spots all over a dark purple chiffon veil I have.
Luckily, I managed to get all the Fray Check out, with rubbing alcohol, and then dabbed with a touch of clear nail polish.

If you do choose to use an acetate base (nail polish), I don't think you'll be able to remove it...regular nail polish will melt most fabrics, made with acetate. Lots of different stretchy type fabrics, contain acetate.

I don't know how non-acetate remover will react.

I'm surprised because I've mainly noticed Fray Check looking darker than the fabric. I wonder if it depends on what kind of material you're putting it on. I haven't tried it on mesh.

I didn't know about the Alene's version but really love some of the other Alene products. Must try it.

I think it does matter what kind of fabric you use it on. It seems like most synthetics turn white and the more natural fibers turn dark.

The Aleene's is a much heavier kind of fray control. In most cases, I like it better. It definitely will turn things a little darker so a little bit goes a long way. It's really good for applying to trim, then letting it dry, then making your cut.

Get E6000 industrial glue from Michaels or any other hobby store. It is flexible. Glue some rhinestones on the mesh over the holes, it'll keep the mesh from fraying and you get your own personal touch on your mesh.

I have body stocking in fishnet that I have done that to. It gives it a "I have been dancing so long that my costumes require mending" sort of decandent glamour. Imperfection can be a good thing!
