hard to show on pictures, but there are 3 screaming faces in the veil...

yup - I can see something too - very freaky.

Maybe it's not screaming faces,
but rather dancers - calling out to fly with the silk...

it must be the cat we had to put down coming back to say hello again.

I will get some sage from my mother's garden to get the spirits out of the house , i think I saw that on tv .
if I hear cats other than mine or people sceaming in my veil box the veil is yours Nasila.

So I guess Akai veils are like the Rorschach ink blot tests for dancers? Maybe they can be used to identify our dance personalities..hmm veil therapy anyone?

The title of this thread reminds me of one of the first shows I ever went to. I hadn't seen much of bellydance, or learned much by that point and saw a veil performance with a rather opaque tie-dye veil and a very, very slender dancer to music that sounded very celtic to me. At one point she put the veil over herself, her hands and face seeming to fight under the material to be free, the impression of her facial features imprinted through the silk.

I had to bite the inside of my cheek to keep from giggling out loud -- it reminded me of all the times my brothers and I had played 'ghost' and of wearing sheets around and going OOOoooOOOOooo.. I really had the urge to do that, but somehow managed to NOT do it. Perhaps I was afraid my teacher would murder me...

I have a tape of that show and still giggle every time I see that performance, though I have watched other dancers do similar moves and have since gained a bit of appreciation for it.

i was a few classes shy of a BS in psychology so there is perhaps a method to the madness

some day if i have a bunch of free time (ha) i'll show you guys the strange photos we've caught, not only the faces we see in the veils but some strange stuff when we are modeling

they aren't evil tho :) i've always considered them a spiritual conduit

unless you are a nonpayer then they are tainted (evil laugh)
