did you sleep with a bag on your head? did it itch?
We slept with plastic wrap and shower caps on our heads. Mine didn't itch at all, but he said his did a little (and he did scratch in his sleep some), but he didn't have any residual itching today after we rinsed out. Mine didn't bother me at all, except that he added quite a bit of water while he was working my henna in, and it was drippy in the back of my neck; otherwise, I had not problems at all.

I've been using henna in my hair since I turned 14, with some breaks for Manic Panic back in the day, and then a few years of rest. I started up with henna again a couple of years ago. I use Rainbow Henna, in Persian Red. I mix it with a few drops of lavender oil and whatever other essential oils I feel like at the time, along with double-bagged Red Zinger tea to make it more red, and two tablespoons of apple cider vinegar. That last is supposed to help henna adhere to grey/white hairs.

I don't think Rainbow has anything bad in it. Have to go look at it again. My local Pakistani 99 cent store sells various brands of henna, but none of the labeling is in English, so I can't tell if it's pure or not, or how fresh it is. Love the packaging, though.

This is very interesting stuff...I like mendhi henna for hands, and have seen henna in the stores. Have any of you used the blonde henna? I'm a natural blonde, but I'm afraid if I tried that stuff I might look like I had a head full of tumeric hair! ;-) I'm sure it's better for you than chemical dyes, though.

Thanks, Tamrahennatx. I just bought more Henna from Mehandi.com. Thanks to this thread, I have henna on the brain. I wonder if I'll like this better than the Yemeni henna I have.
