Where can I find nice cosmetic bags?
My mom has asked "Santa" (read: me ..g.:) for a new set of cosmetic bags for Christmas. I thought Bhuzzers might be a good crowd to ask for leads!
I'm not having much luck finding a middle-of-the-road set: somewhere between cheap and exorbitantly expensive. I'd like a two to three piece set, ideally with a few organizing pockets (I'd also consider a roll), and with some kind of attractive exterior covering that is neither cheapo vinyl nor rough, burlap-type fabric.
Suggestions? One of the guests on What Not to Wear had a great set that I wished I could track down: three medium-size cosmetic bags that fit inside a larger, matching rectangular bag for travel. I also really like these Fossil cosmetic bags in black and white, but buying several of them would blow my budget, unless I get lucky with a Black Friday sale.
Help!
(Also, if anyone has any leads on cute jewellery rolls, I'm in the market for one of those for my little sister!)

Le SportSac!!! LeSportsac
and in a major bonus if you spill stuff (like me...sigh) they're washable!! PS, they often have them for 1/2 the retail price at Century 21 if you make it down here before the holidays. Both my mom and I have the 3-zip cosmetic case (her Xmas wish a few years ago, oddly..), but mine's in a funkier print

Re: Where can I find nice cosmetic bags?
I've seen scads of those two- and three-bag sets at discounters like Ross, T.J. Maxx, and Marshalls that carry department-store overstocks. They come in a range of fabrics from tacky to elegant, and you never know what might be there on a given day, but if you don't mind digging you may find the perfect thing. Target also has them, but the ones I've seen there so far have been mostly in vinyl and/or teenybopper prints.

Re: Where can I find nice cosmetic bags?
I have to say that I am not a huge fan of Mary Kay (I had a friend who turned into another person completely when she got on the recruiting track *shudder*), but I got their Roll-Up bag as a Christmas gift last year and I freaking love it.
There are 4 good sized compartments that are velcroed in, so you can leave them in the bag or take them out and use them individually. It also has a hook so you can hang it on a towel bar or knob of some kind (GREAT for crowded dressing rooms). I can fit everything in it - makeup, brushes, contact lend case, toothbrush, deodorant, hair accessories, jewelry, etc.
Here is a site where you can buy one without the Mary Kay products that are usually included. Mary Kay Travel Roll Up Bag Empty

Azhia, what do you pack them in? A larger bag of the same type, a train case, some other mysterious thing...?

Re: Where can I find nice cosmetic bags?
heehee...They're modular and meant to pack inside the large one and then fit inside the tote! I love these things. I like being able to SEE everything, ya know?
I also organize my cosmetics (pro and personal) according to texture. Makeup is nought but creams, liquids, and powders. Cream cheek color, eye cream color, lipstick, cream foundation, it's all CREAM and, therefore, multifunctional/interchangeable. So I'll pack my creams in a thing, all pencils in another thing, eye shadow palettes in another (don't pack shimmer with matte or else your matte will never be matte), loose shadows in another, GLITTER products in their own separate case b/c once that gets everywhere you are screwed and glitter forever everywhere...

Re: Where can I find nice cosmetic bags?
mine are not water proof but they are great for jewelry and such..I make the smaller jacquard silk ones and the velvet zipper kinds, normally make them so they are in different sizes for a set..and sell them with scarfs or other little matching goodies.. see Silk Essensuals
they can be customized to include a scarf, sarong, glasses carrier, etc
sorry for the weird url link, thats the akai site, i'm so worn out from fixing it all the time i just left it for now:)

Mary Kay has a beautiful black and pink one with different compartments and it hangs up. It is absolutely wonderful.

Sephora just sent me an e-mail about cosmetic bags this morning, here's the link:

These aren't very economical, but definitely gift-worthy!

I bought a great cosmetics bag at Sephora--it's very sturdy and packs well in luggage. :)

Re: Where can I find nice cosmetic bags?
I purchased several 3-pack bundles of cosmetic bags at CVS Pharmacy today. Rouched black satin was my choice but others were offered. I will be using those for friends that do not need a gift of more stuff for their homes. I'll probably add some glittery make-up, fun nail polish, a soothing eye mask and a small manicure set. Most Pharmacy/Drug Stores stock-up on those for the holidays.
