The New New Swapmeet Purchases Thread
The old thread was getting huge, so I thought I would start a new one. Here is my new (to me) brown costume. The bedlah is from Ghostz, I can't remember who sold me the skirt. Not visible: flesh-toned ballroom dance shoes (I LOVE them!) also from the Swapmeet. Fishnet belly cover I made from Danskin tights per a discussion on Bhuz. The gauntlets are also fishnet, I'm not so sure how I like those, though.
Thanks everyone for costuming me so well and helping me stay on a budget too!

You look great Dunyah!
I was thinking we needed a new thread for this since the last one was like 20 something pages I think ..l;,. Plus I like that you put it here. How did you make that bellycover out of tights ..g.:?

Re: The New New Swapmeet Purchases Thread
There was a thread about belly covers. Danskin fishnet tights were recommended, so that's what I used. They are really tough. I cut off the legs at about a 45-degree angle and cut open the crotch. Then sewed the points together to make a new crotch. It worked great.

Thanks, Latifa, Azhia & Ghostz for the compliments.

Ghostz did a great job designing and making that set. I got tons of compliments on it that night. It was a fun show, too.

Re: The New New Swapmeet Purchases Thread
Dunyah, that looks marvelous! I like my Danskin tights belly cover as well as any I've bought.
Mahira, it doesn't have to be complicated. I just cut the legs off mine, straight across (so it fits like boy shorts). Then hike up the waist like Grandpa's slacks and hook it to your bra like any other belly cover. (I think there are instructions online somewhere, maybe Sugarpetals' site?)
I wound up using the leg material to make simple crossed-in-back shoulder straps for mine. I feel so much more secure that way, hooks are a PITA. I wear a little vest to cover the shoulders.

I left the legs intact for a while and enjoyed the look! But then I had to go to the bathroom....

Re: The New New Swapmeet Purchases Thread
I bought clear straps at Joanne's but they weren't long enough. I've seen other dancers with clear straps on a tummy cover but didn't get a chance to ask how they made longer straps.
Guess I should have posted this thread on the Swap Meet forum. Maybe I should change the title to "costumes on a bargain" and see if others will post.

Re: The New New Swapmeet Purchases Thread

More "nakedness," thanks to Azhia....the resolution SUCKS when you upload to Bhuz, so this picture hardly does a justice to all the tiny crystals and the incredible details. But I feel like a goddess in this one-of-a-kind champagne Eman dress!

SatinWorship- of course you *feel* like a goddess in that- you LOOK like a goddess in that.
Geez- you and Azhia should organize your own "Goddesses come in small packages" costume trading club.

Re: The New New Swapmeet Purchases Thread
Is this where the Swap Thread purchases thread now lives?? Anyway, here's the blue costume I bought from Lilybellydance. Thanks StacyLizette for transporting it to San Antonio. Here I am rocking it at the half-time show for the San Antonio Rampage. Yes, we're dancing on "covered" ice although we did have to walk out there & back barefoot on the ice itself!

Re: The New New Swapmeet Purchases Thread
Huh, I'll have to find that one, I haven't been to the Swap thread extensively in a while.
Thanks for the compliments, y'all! The husband gives it the thumbs up!
And Satinworship, I love the dress, the pose, and the beautiful girl wearing it!

Re: The New New Swapmeet Purchases Thread
The "naked" dress I bought from Ezma! I had a nude lycra underskirt made, since I didn't trust the little mesh booty shorts that came with it, lol. I also took the shoulder wrap and used around the hips and had a soft pink mesh bolero jacket made to cammoflage the tattoos on my arms. Photos by Michael Baxter at Belly Dancer of the Year Preliminary round.

Oooh that is so beautiful! And perfect with your hair!
I've been thinking about a mesh choli/bolero kind of thing as I soemtimes have skin problems on my shoulders. Haven't quite figured out how to make it work with the bra, but great to see it can look that good!

Re: The New New Swapmeet Purchases Thread
Magidah and Satin, wow!!! also, love your hair, Magidah :) yay red!
here's my latest...modified Necklemann's bedlah from UKCaasi and two-tiered chiffon skirt from Ravenna

also, a costume I purchased last year from Bellydancefanatic (original owner was Brea Morgiane, I believe)...I've since modified the coined fringe on the top to a V that starts about mid-cup, and am planning on adding a whole bunch of crystals...still hunting for the elusive Barbie-pink chiffon skirt though!
