Bruises from costume
I have bruises from my costume bra - I wore it for about 6 hours (it was a benefit event where I had volunteered to sell auction tickets). It didn't seem to have any fit problems when I put it on, but I ended up with rather painful, red and blue bruises at the top of the bra side strap, somewhat to the back from the armpit, one side only. It's the copper great loop I just got on Bhuz - it's a lovely costume, but this left me a bit weary.
Any insights on why that may have happened? Advice how to prevent this next time? (Chances are that I won't be selling tickets for several hours all that often, of course.)

Re: Bruises from costume
ouch. I can only imagine the issue came from wearing it for six hours. we have to wear our costumes pretty tight for the support we need while dancing - too tight for just wearing it around. maybe if you need to spend that much time in costume again, you could add aonther hook a half inch or so looser? some of my bras have a (way!) looser hook on the halter strap - if I'm going to be driving in it or sitting around in costume for a while, I like to shift down from overdrive into neutral. ;)
I hope it's not a bigger issue with the bra - a copper great loop? must be pretty!

Ow! Yeah, perhaps it was wearing it for so long that caused the problem. I've heard arnica is good for bruises.

I had the same thing happen with my great loop. I wore it for a show I was in But we did a fully dressed run through before & my dance was 3rd from the end.So I wasin mine along time too...But I had bruises from the bra on my sides. That is oneof the reasons I sold it.I never wanted to wear it again as it hurt me =(

Ouch. I think the longest I've ever worn my great loop is about two hours for our restaurant gig and I didn't have any issues. I can't imagine wearing any of my costumes for 6 hours though.
I don't think you'll have any trouble with this costume going forward as long as you are only wearing it for a short time period. If you have to do another marathon event, you might consider a less structured costume or loosing the hooks as elisagamal suggested.

This happens to me fairly often. It's just from the straps being tight. No big deal.

It's happened to me as well. I've also had sequins cut into me along the bra band of one of my costumes after having it on for a couple of hours. They really aren't made to be worn for long periods of time.
