Another cup issue-Pharaonix
So I received a gold Sultana from Audrena a few weeks ago (Regalia on Dahlal). It is drop dead gorgeous. Problem is, the bra is a size smaller than what I really need (it is most definitely a 4 but I requested a 5, which was what was supposed to be made for me), though I can make it work. It is so pretty that I would sacrifice the wristbands to make it work. The problem is, the cup has a weird shape, and I think my boobs would fit in it better if the cup was more rounded OR more flat. I need to take a picture so that yall can better see what I am talking about, but the cups kind of have this ridge in the middle of them that pushes my cleavage up and over the edge in the most unflattering way. I thought about wiring the outside edges to make them stand up and hopefully shape better around me, but this fold or ridge in the cup or whatever it is is just not flattering regardless of what the edge of the cups are doing. Anyone had this problem with a bra? Its almost as if it needs to be reshaped-advice on doing that? I am not sure stuffing it with heavy round objects would do the trick but at this point I'm open to anything.

Re: Another cup issue-Pharaonix
I call that the "prow of the ship" effect. It is the unfortunate practise of using a heavy vinyl (think football skin) material and sewing it together with one seam that runs east west right at the nipple area. Very down and dirty way to create a cup. There is no cure that I know of short of taking the cups out (with a sheet undeneath the surgury field to catch all the beads) and replacing with a stiffened foam bra and rebeading...DONT DO IT!!! It is the highway to hell!

Re: Another cup issue-Pharaonix
Speaking of Pharaonics cups - just to clarify sizing, this is what I've seen on Audrena's site and the new PharaonixOfEgypt.com site:
2 - A cup
3 - B cup
4 - C cup
5 - D cup
I've seen some wrong info about cup numbers on the Swap Pages - such as "it's a #2, so a B". Of course, a 32B isn't the same as a 38B, but we have to start somewhere.

God this is so frustrating-not only does the bra not fit but I can't do anything about it.

The costume I received last week from Audrena was supposed to be a 5 but I swear it is also a 4. Same issue.

Re: Another cup issue-Pharaonix
hmm. I'm the bra master and I have to clarify the above: you're right, a 32B is a different volume cup than a 38B! audrena's equivalents would be valid for a 36 or 38 US bra band size. so, a 5 = 36D or 38D. I think a 34D would be happier in a 4 cup. the swap meet ads aren't wrong - a 2 IS a B, if you're a 34 or 36 band size.
I've noticed that there has been a difference in the cup shape of my pharaonics costumes in the last few years. they're a lot shallower than they used to be? the same size still works for me, but I bust out of them a little bit more.

Re: Another cup issue-Pharaonix
The Sultana costume also is scalloped. So whatever size she started with as a base she cut scallops out of the edge, making it smaller.
I got one in pink and it worked great for me...but, uh...to small cups is never an issue for me. :(

(zoe, keep in mind that Belgian bra sizes are different from US sizes, and even from French bra sizes...)

Re: Another cup issue-Pharaonix
The standard Pharaonix cup measurements are
#2 (A)-h 6" v 5.5" d 7"
#3 (B) - h 6.5" v 6" d 7.5"
#4 (C) - h 7" v 6.5" d 8"
#5 (D) - h 7.5" v 7" d 8.5"
#6 (D) - h 8" v 7" d 9"
#7 (DD) - h 8.5" v 7.25" d 9.5"
Take a bra that you have that fits well and measure the cups to see which one is closest to your current bra. That should give you at least some idea of which size would work for you. As everyone's rib cage/breast size/shape is different, it will be a fairly individual thing to find the size that works best in a costume bra, even if they wear the same size in a street bra. The style of the specific bra will also be important. Different cup shapes accommodate more/less depending on the size/shape/density of the breasts.Mahsati Janan, Dance Artist & Instructor

Re: Another cup issue-Pharaonix
BTW, I've had success with steaming Pharaonics bras to re-shape/round out a little.
I put it over the kettle and put the kettle on to boil to so the steam comes up into the cup. When it's warm I push it out and round it continually as it cools. Then I let it cook completely. It only takes a few minutes and it usually stays pretty well after I do that a few times. It doesn't cure all ills, but does help immensely.
I use an electric kettle- to my costume is never near the stove top/burner/flame.

Re: Another cup issue-Pharaonix
okay, I'll throw this question out there since I've been interested to know if it can be done.
best way to make a pharaonix bra smaller?
I have a ffew costume that I really dont want to sell but the bra is just too big. Bellydance store says I should wear #2 and I like wearing #3
Costume 1 - bra is #5 or even a #6
Costume 2 - bra is #4* Sa'Noorah * Petite Dancer at 4'10" / Facebook: Sa'Noorah Bellydance /

Re: Another cup issue-Pharaonix
Elisa is indeed a bra master -- where's she been, anyway? -- and I wouldn't normally quibble, but the equivalents given work best for a 36 band, not a 38. For a 38 you have to go up one or more, depending on the cup shape. As a general rule of thumb, a 38DD or E is usually happiest in a 7 or 8. You can occasionally find a 7 off the rack (heh) at Dahlal or Shahrzad's, but an 8 is almost always going to be a custom order.

Re: Another cup issue-Pharaonix
Yes. You have to smooth and push during the drying/cooling process. It doesn't work 100%, but it helps.
It works on anything that has a stiffener in it as the steam softens it and then it holds the new shape as it cools/dries. I believe one should be careful to not get the outside wet or too damp, in case something is not colorfast.

Re: Another cup issue-Pharaonix
I"m a 34DD and I used to have a #5 gold great loop. It was too big for me. I needed to pad the cups a little to get the girls in the "right" place. It had coverage but not a good shape for me. Also since the cups seem shallower than the older Pharaonix a #5 seemed too wide.
