My costume project is at a standstill

I hope I am putting this in the right spot. Yes I am looking for something, but it is for a costume I am making.

I am working on making a dress! I'm very excited, and have been planning this for a year or more. BUT... I have yet to find the perfect fabric to go with the dress. The main parts of the dress are a rich chocolate brown. The bottom is a trumpet, and I want to put a pink and brown chiffon material in the gores.
    Similar to this.

(mine is going to have different cut outs and have sleeves)

But I have yet to find this perfect pink and brown chiffon.
I have been to all my local fabric stores, and many on-line. What I have found in pink and brown just doesn't have the right look.

    Any ideas?

Maybe a plain chiffon, with a sequins-by-the-yard scroll-type design in the other color?

It's so frustrating to get an idea for a specific fabric! Always seems so hard to find.

Maybe a plain pink that I add some brown sequins to....
    hmmmm........
I think that might be just the ticket. I could repeat the design by adding pink sequins over the brown. ooooooohhhh and over the mesh cutouts.

You could even dye it yourself with dyes and fabric from Dharma Trading Co., Dharma Trading Co. Homepage

    They have silk chiffon.

Do you know anyone with an embroidery machine? Maybe you can do some custom embroidery on a plain background.

Dye sounds like a pretty good idea too. Maybe I could learn how to do the hand painted flowers thing.....

Thanks everyone, you have re-sparked my creativity!

You could alternate pink and brown inserts. Or, this is my choice - layer pink over brown. Sheer nylon tricot is inexpensive, available in lots of colors and doesn't ravel so the hems are not as challenging. (Pharaonics and Bella layers sheer fabrics on skirts and it is stunning. The pops of color are always eye-catching.)

Pictures of the work in progress and the end result would be appreciated. We can all use inspiration. (If you decide to use sheer tricot and have problems locating it contact Gaylene Dover. She has over 100 bolts of sheer tricot in a huge range of colors. Gaylene's Boutique No fabric on her website but you can email her lilegypt1@aol.com and describe what you need.)
