Adhesive for glue on stones
I'm adding some crystals to a costume. I have some large sew on crystals and some small glue on crystals which I want to put on stretch velvet. Will tacky glue do the trick? Or is there something much better?

Re: Adhesive for glue on stones
I am interested in the feedback as well. Glue on stretch fabric seems risky. Of course someone may have a solution. Good questions.

I haven't tried it yet, but E6000 has been recommended a lot.

Alene's make a "jewel it glue" as well as one for stretchy fabrics you might want to look into.
Here's a link to all her "varieties"

Gem-Tac. I have seen it adhere tiny rhinestones to denim, boots, belts, cowboy hats, the face, T-shirts, Saroyan swords, castanettes, plastic, what else... Stretch fabric? Probably!

Re: Adhesive for glue on stones
I also swear by Aleene's Jewel-It Glue. It dries so perfectly clear it disappears, so you don't have to worry about getting a messy glue look. You can even use it to create a "setting" for a pointed back stone. You squeeze on a gob, let it dry a few minutes, then press the stone into it.
I've never glued to stretch velvet though and this sounds like a really challenging surface to get anything to stick to. I'm thinking you might need to sort of agitate the nap of the velvet with a toothpick or something (eye end of a needle?) to get the glue to go down into the fibers instead of sitting on the surface.

Thanks for the recommendations! I'll keep these in mind and see what is available at Michael's or Joannes.

Re: Adhesive for glue on stones
I have used Jewel It glue...and I love it. I have even used it for a few things that I could not sew down on bedlah sets before.
However...you mentioned that you wanted to use it on STRETCH fabric. If this is going to be used on a stretch garment, that WILL be stretched on your body (a choli, form fitting baladi dress, form fitting skirt, etc.) then I would NOT recommend. The stretching of the fabric will loosen the bond, and they will pop off over time.

I have used jewel tac (I think that is the name). I got it at Craft Warehouse. It worked really well on the velvet that I used.

On a similar note, what about gluing coins? I had a bella that had some glued-on coins but the glue looked brownish. Any ideas as to what it was?

Re: Adhesive for glue on stones
This isn't a suggestion, but I have a further question. What if you glued the stones onto the stretch velvet while it was on? So the fabric is already stretched to where it would have to be while you're wearing it? Just a thought...
