    I'm using fatgirlslim!

I read somewhere that in Europe it's 'commonly known' that massage + caffeine = reduction in cellulite (temporary, I think). I don't know if it's true, but I'll sit in coffee grounds if it'll help!

I have a couple friends that use their leftover coffe grounds like this all the time!! You rub handfulls onto your thighs & butt like an exfolliant. It works REALLY well!!

The one thing I was told to remember - put a strainer in your shower drain. You don't ewant all those grounds going down the pipes. ;-)

The thought of undies that contain caffeine makes me very excited because I can never have enough coffee, for serious.

Something I find confusing about the caffeine cellulite treatment concept is that it's often suggested that caffeine ingestion increases cellulite.

ETA: Coffee grounds in the shower? This is something I should try!!!!! Lord knows I have enough of those grounds lying around.

When I was growing up my parents owned a coffee shop restaurant. We always put the coffee grounds down the sink because it was supposed to be good for the pipes and keep them clear. I don't know if it's true or not but I don't think we had any problems as a result of coffee grounds in the drain.

So, does the fatgirlslim work? (I first typed flatgirlsim...which is what happens if you try to say it a few times fast!)

I have used it on my upper arms and on my throat. It seems to smooth out the skin and take away some of the cellulite (and those horizontal lines on my throat). I also used it on my face for a week and when I went to visit my seamstress the following week, she asked if I was loosing weight because she could see the difference in my cheeks and jawline. So it does work.

Caffeine is a diuretic so it makes you pee. It helps to shed off water weight. I don't know if that is how this works or not. The cream sounds interesting tho.

I have heard this a long long time ago, and tried it, but not many times because it was messy.
I guess I'll try it in the shower.

I assume espresso ground coffe will work as well...

I think the caffeine works by drawing the water out of your skin. I tried something I read in a fitness magazine and it seems to work (although temporarily): Pack the used coffee grounds onto your thigh (and/or stomach) and wrap the thigh (and/or stomach) in plastic wrap - it can be left on anywhere from an hour to several hours. Remove and shower. Works in a pinch for a too-tight dress or costume. Keep in mind, though, that once you start re-hydrating, the water weight will eventually come back.

    Re: shapewear with caffeine?

OK, I tried coffee grounds in the shower this morning. I scrubbed my belly and ONE thigh with it, massaging for several minutes and leaving it on as long as I could stand it.

What a mess! And no visible difference.

The fatgirlslim does seem to create a *slight* temporary firming/tightening effect on the skin. It makes me feel like I'm doing something to prevent loose skin on my belly as I lose weight. It's meant to reduce cellulite on the belly/thighs/butt -- but I think neck skin is probably a better place to use it!

For reducing water weight retention temporarily, I soak in a tub with lots of epsom salt. Just like a swollen ankle, it reduces the swelling/puffiness. Scientific reason: water is drawn through cell walls to areas of lesser concentration. If the environment outside the cell has a higher mineral concentration than the environment inside the cell, water will pass to the outside. So it takes a heavy solution of salt in the bathwater to make anything happen at all. Using a little salt won't cause a little water to escape -- it's all-or-nothing. Try it when you're retaining water, weigh yourself before and after, it's amazing.

Maybe adding coffee to the salt bath would enhance the effect?

I WISH I had a bath! It might help with my swollen lower back as well - I picked up the sewing machine the other night and put it on the table, and ow.

About those Epsom salts, Lauren -- roughly how much do you need for an average-sized tub? Does it irritate your skin at all? I'm thinking mostly of the more sensitive bits here and there.

(Psst, hey, are we still allowed to reference those around here? Purely for research purposes?)

I have sensitive skin and I love Epsom salts for those days I ache all over. No problems here with reactions to it, and you can rinse off after a soak just in case.

how does the skin look after one of these baths? ... I would love to be able to just reduce some water retention for when I have shows when I'm all bloated (actually am in this situation for tomorrow night), but I'd be scared my skin would look a little deflated if it was just plumped up from a bunch of water weight and then lost it (my skin can look loose / deflated enough as is) ... and I am also curious just how much epsom salts it takes for a standard bath tub for it to be effective?

Ok, I tried to coffe scrub / rub in the shower.
    I love it!
I drink home made espresso, 2 cups at least every day so I definitely have enough "product" around.

I'm not sure about the slimming / celulite reducing effect but I loved the exfoliating / moisterizing results. I scrubbed it all over my body, including my face and right away (in the shower) I noticed how it left my skin extremely soft. I don't know why, but my skin was soft and smooth, all over. My face looked really good after that.
This was Friday, and - call me crazy - but I definitely looked thinner in my costume that night, I wasn't the only one noticing it. I really don't know if the coffee had anything to do with that.

But since then every time I take a shower I scrub myself with coffee first (and because I love it, I've been taking 2 showers daily :)

Marianna, does it stain the skin at all? Do you just scrub with the coffee grounds after you've brewed coffee? (and most importantly does the caffeine rub give you a caffeine buzz?)

No, it doesn't stain the skin at all. I use the coffee grounds after I am done brewing the coffee. I use espresso grind.
I don't think it will give you a caffeine buzz, although I am such an addict that just the thought of rubbing coffee on me already woke me up.
The espresso grind is fine enough, and not too course to scrub your body with. It definitely invigorates the skin.
My face feels so smooth and it has a glow.

I tried the coffee grounds in the shower this morning... what a mess! LOL

I don't believe it made any noticeable difference in the appearance of my cellulite ..c::, (maybe after extended use). BUT like Marianna mentioned, my skin has never been silkier! After my shower, my moisturizer was absorbed almost instantly. Even my dry, rough, sandpaper-like heels are significantly softer & smoother. YAY!!

During the summer my coffee grounds & filters go into the compost bin. But during the winter they'll now go into a little container on the edge of my tub!..g.:
