Re: Style Report: Egyptomania is In {again}
That Marchesa Resort Collection is beautiful - I liked every dress (especially #22). But is it just me, or was that model really bland and boring? Maybe they are avoiding cliche Egyptian eye make up a la Elizabeth Taylor in Cleopatra. But this girl looks washed out and way too young for the dresses she is wearing, to my eye.

Good eye, Dunyah, you're very right about the model, her 'look' doesn't seem sophisticated enough for the clothes.
Fun, Azhia, and some costume design inspiration as well! Thanks for sharing.

Those gold dresses at the beginning of the collection are just luscious....

They've used really young, under-presented models to make some of that stuff look fresh IMO. Not that the dresses are ugly, but there is a very old-fashioned 60s look to some of them that screams "70 year old New York socialite" on an older body. They are quite risky on that score.

Maybe that's why I liked them - the old-fashioned 60's vibe.

I see Greco-Roman as opposed to Egyptian, but definitely the 60s and 70s right down to a CAFTAN! oh boy. The models in the other slide shows have horrible hair styling. What the hell were they thinking, one has to wonder.

Thank you for sharing! Lovin' it. I agree that the model could have given a little more personality in the shots tho. It doesn't have to detract from the clothing, when done right, it only adds.

I didn't realize that elephant knees were in for fall (#11) and is it just me or do some of those just look like breast plates? I really liked the last one and the long white number!

I loved the Anna Sui bikini, Balmain black and silver dress, Benjamin Cho, and Temperley headdress!

And the good thing about that hairstyle is that when you got tired, you could sit down and someone could play your head.
