Thread: YAY! I Made a Bra 1 Cup Smaller!

I bought an Eman costume off of my mother, who is much more endowed than me and the only way to make it work would be to do some major surgery on the cups. I decided I'd need to take about 1" off the side of each bra cup in order for it to fit on my ribcage properly.

Soo, I got to work by creating a template of the area I'd want to remove. Then I removed the shoulder straps and all beadwork in the area to be removed. I cut through the whole bra cup, which was a foamy plastic material paired with buckram or some really stiff material. I ran into a major roadblock: the toughest underwire ever! After using wire cutters, a small saw and anything else I could think of and getting nowhere, I took it to my dad who was able to take care of it in less than 5 min (god bless dads!)

Then it was really easy. Just reattach the fabric to the cup, reattach the straps, put my padding in and seal up the lining. Tomorrow I'll move the hooks on the bra and arm straps and I'm good to go! Thankfully the skirt didn't need anything. I have to say I'm proud of myself ..g.:

I have done this as well. The rebeading that I had to do was a pain, but worth it in the end!

I don't have any photos sadly (don't have my camera at the moment) but I'll take some "after" pics when I get it back :)

It was pretty funny to have my costume down at the workbench lol! I was actually a little nervous about the whole thing, had visions of everything falling apart

Well, I'm using a hacksaw to cut my wife's bra down so it'll fit my daughter.
