Costume designer Aziz
Hi all,
Belly Dance Store.com has many new costumes from Aziz. I'm not familiar with this designer, should I be? What do we know about him/her?
Thanks!
Sandra

I asked the same thing. She told me that he used to work for other designers but now has started out on his own. i have a couple of his costumes, his designs are more unusual in terms of what he uses as a decoration.

I really like the solid color ones, turq. and pink, especially. The gold is beautiful, but I don't think I can do gold.
The pink and green pantsuit...maybe not....w.:
The lotus flower ones...I'd have to see in person.
Thanks!

Re: Costume designer Aziz
Aziz is Syrian, Andrea and I met him and had tea at his house -- Raqia insisted, she seemed to be trying to 'launch' him in the US.
He's VERY proud of the fact that:
A) He has a degree in fashion design (unlike many famous designers who are self-trained)
and
B) He used to design for Fifi. It's unclear how many designs he produced for her, but he has quite a portfolio of pics of himself with her from a few years ago.
His bras are the hard-cup type, but not quite as risque as a lot of what Sahar is doing. They're very supportive, though, and wonderful for making hte most of a small bust. Nice shapes.
His use of color and texture are amazing. He's very couture and likes to try strange things -- you might find that the trim on your bra is actually a necklace, still with the clasp on it, for instance.
When his designs work, they're amazing and unique. When they don't work, they fall utterly flat. He's not consistent yet.
You can see quite a few of his designs on Andrea's site, the ones priced at $575 and $620 are his:

It's nice to see new designers on the site but for me personally they are somewhat loud and busy. I do like the costumes of his with solid colors very much.

There was a snafu that they since worked out. The measurements are right now; his costumes generally have a good bit of stretch in the skirt.

What I like about his costumes is that they are each rather individual. He doesn't mass produce the same design again and again. I saw a denim pants set costume there even. Craziness! Perfect for the person doing a western/comedy piece though.
I quite like his Pharaonic stylings. I tried on a couple. They were well made and comfortable.
