shamadan spinoff: silk purse from a sow's ear

Here's my spiffed up junky shamadan. The led tea lights have flickering yellow "flames".

The glasses are attached with florist's clay. You can buy it in a block or in a roll (a flat ribbon rolled up on a backing of slippery paper). I pinched sections off a roll, then rolled them out into thin snakes which I laid in a circle just inside the edge of the brass candle cup, then pressed the glass cup into it. I've used this stuff for all sorts of applications and it seems to remain pliable and sticky forever. It was great in this case because the candle cups of the shamedan are at various funky angles but I was able to position the glass cups in the sticky stuff so they're all pretty much straight upright.

one warning about florist's clay--it will soften and lose some stickiness outside in the sun on a hot day. And why yes, I do know this from bitter experience. Good thing those candles weren't lit...
