How can I remove candle wax residue???

    Hello Everyone:)

I am seeking advice on how to remove shamadaan candle wax from my costumes.

Now, what I usually do is place a napkin over the wax on the costume and iron over the napkin to melt the wax and have the napkin absorb it.

The problem is that I have a chiffon skirt that drowned in wax. Usually, a little may spill, but this time it was bad! I ironed it out BUT left marks all over the chiffon....like a residue. I tried scrubbing it with a mild soap...didn't work. Then I tried with Palmolive....didn't work. Then an oil based cleanser, then a creme face cleanser....nothing.

    Heeeeeeeeeeelp!!!!!!!!

put your skirt in the freezer and then see if you can scrape the remaining wax off of your skirt. I know what a pain that can be. If the freezer does not work try your local dry cleaner they may have a suggestion for you.

Martha Stewart has a whole method that involves mineral spirits and alcohol. I swear by mineral spirits, so I am inclined to consider that good advice:

I usually use the candle wax method.. one of my friends says that her mom uses baby powder because the iron gets rid of the wax, but not the residual oil

she sprinkles the baby powder on the area and then uses a cloth over it with a light iron. not sure how it works, but she's never had a problem after easter- easter is when i almost always get candle wax on my church suit- it's a greek orthodox thing

you can also try putting an ice cube on it instead of putting it in the freezer...

I'd second the dry cleaner suggestions. It's one of the methods you can use to remove wax from the fabric after doing batik. Actually, you might find some ideas if you read up on doing batik, though I do think the usual methods are ironing it out and taking it to the cleaners.

Thank you Ladies for all your help:))

I managed to get rid of it......I had to repeat 4 times spraying "Spray and Wash" and scrubbing and rinsing!!

Eventually, it all came out! Now I know for next time:DDD
