Thread: It has a name: Gear Acqusition Problem

I suspect that quite a few bellydancers suffer from a sparkly variation of what has been identified as "gear acqusition syndrome":

Oh btw, I've e-mailed some vendors just now as I've got unbeliveable cravings for something new, despite having five new costumes in the last few months..

No, no, no....erm....no. I don't identify that at all. Nope. Not me. BTW, you don't happen to have a link for denial, do you? Just because I'm selling some of my gear at a swap meet this weekend, but I'm hoping to sell enough old stuff to buy some new stuff, and I've bought a couple of new costumes and am ordering another, and over half of my Christmas list was belly dance stuff, and I sent my husband to Josh at Dahlal, because I had given Josh what I wanted, and orders to tell my husband to buy it for my birthday (which he did). Oh, and the fact that I check the Swap Meet pages at least a couple of times per day. No, don't identify with Gear Acquisition Problem.

I heard this a long time ago, and it always seemed to be addressed at bellydancers: Denial is not a river in Egypt ;-)

i dont know what you are taking about! i don't have this disease (as she holds her closet doors together...barely....)

I don't suffer from GAS..it may just be indigestion.

Oh jeepers, they might as well just have had a photo of me in that explanation. I have this horrible habit of buying costumes, wearing them once or twice and then wanting something new. I've been calling myself a Petulant Princess, but perhaps a more accurate description of my afflication is GAS afflicted. ..l;,

i have a feeling i'm going to see GAS t-shirts at the next rakkasah...

What the shirt needs to say is: "Do not under any circumstances sell this woman a costume. She suffers from GAS".

It goes without saying there needs to be some bling on this shirt.

I get cravings -- DAILY -- just to LOOK at costumes. I love that bellydancestore.biz is putting new stuff up all the time! I stalk the sites, and sometimes browse through e-bay.

It's like looking at art. Art that speaks to me on a very deep and personal level.

and for those suffering from GAS you can view part of my collection on the Swap page so I can pay the electrician next week, he doesnt accept BD costumes as form of payment

So I guess the swap page is like a fundraiser-super telethon for those afflicted with GAS ?

Don't show that page to my boyfriend, LOL. He's a musician, but my gear acquisition definitely outpaces his.
