Apricot for All!
Try it and see if it works for you! It is my personal favorite "go to" color for all complexions, even the darkest (which works more as a highlight).
Powder equivalent would be the famed NARS' "Orgasm" blush.

Re: Apricot for All!
I wholeheartedly agree! Do you recommend it for stage, too, or just for real life?

I love apricot blush and I am so pale I'm almost translucent. It gives me a nice flush.

Re: Apricot for All!
I have Nars powder blush in "orgasm" and it is a great color. very natural.
Ahzia, can you recommend a more deeply pigmented apricot blush? While I love the nars orgasm shade, it fades quickly on me (I have dark brown hair and yellow undertones to my medium skin)

If you're looking for a more budget-friendly version of NARS Orgasm I totally recommend mark's blush in After Glo.....***fabulous*** and a fraction of the price!

OK, apricot-hater here ..g.:
I'm a pink girl. Apricot looks bad on me and makes me look sick.
And I actually think that very few people can wear an apricot costume and look good in it. Most people look pale or even naked.....w.:

Re: Apricot for All!
A nice, budget-friendly apricot with little or no shine is Boots No. 7 in Soft Apricot. It's deeper shade than Nars Orgasm but still has that warm, peachy kick. I tried it on six or seven different skin tones yesterday and was really pleased.
Ms. Azhia, I taught a very brief intro to stage makeup for brand-new performers in advance of our studio show next week, and I strongly recommended that they all run out and buy your DVD for further study and (encyclopedic!) reference. I'll save the detailed rave for another thread, but I hope it gets you a little bounce in DC-area sales. You've put together a phenomenal package. Thank you so much!

Re: Apricot for All!
My favorite way to create the perfect apricot is to mix red, yellow, white cream pigments together for that just right shade. I'm also now a cream-a-holic as far as product textures go. Esp. for cheeks, it's the way to go!

Re: Apricot for All!
I love the look of cream base colour for cheeks but the thought of the application scares me off... I just wouldn't know where to start, the brush just seems like an easier tool to blend with...?
Would apricot suit a pale pink toned skin?
I got a $100 gift voucher for the MAC counter for my birthday and am going crazy thinking what to get, I want at least one product that is really versatile. I don't want to get the same old stuff I always get but I don't trust the young chickies at the counter to have a clue, are they trained do you know?

Re: Apricot for All!
Nanda,
Foundation brush is the best way, in my opinion, to apply cream blush. You only need the slightest amount on the tip. Apply at the apple and blend upward while smiling. It gives the most natural hue.
Apricot would suit pale pink-toned skin as well. It really is a miracle shade.
The artists at MAC are trained. Some are better than others, however. If you have questions, I'm happy to answer any as best as we can manage through an online format or you can also contact Voula who is on Bhuz and actually works at MAC.
What type of versatile product are you interested in? For stage or everyday?

Re: Apricot for All!
Stage mostly. Well, was thinking of getting a couple of lips shades, one for stage and one a bit more natural. Maybe a eye colour palette and if I go a cream blusher then that can be used elsewhere on the face too right? Ooo, and I would love some cool eye liners, and lip liner...
So what would be the must-haves of the MAC collection? I'm needing some brushes too, mine are looking a bit pathetic.
Hmm... looks like I'm in for a bit of a shop, might have to supplement that voucher with some of my own cash methinks ;-)

Re: Apricot for All!
There are probably undertones in it that don't work for your skin tones. If it makes you look dead, definitely don't use it! ..c::
I did a peach shade on a model and on a client recently, both of whom had very pink undertones, very pale. I adjusted the cream so that there was less yellow/orange, more red/white. It was still in the peach family, tho!

Re: Apricot for All!
NandaDncr,
Keeping multi-functionality in mind, this is what I would personally recommend (remember, however, that there is more than one door to the same room so another makeup artist may have a completely different set of recommended products). Mon grain du sel:
BRUSHES:
FOUNDATION (concealer, foundation, cream blush)
SMALL ANGLE (eyeliner, brows)
MINI-SHADER (detail work on lids and smudging eyeliner w/ shadow)
PRODUCTS:
FACE AND BODY FOUNDATION
CREAM COLOR BASE (TAUPE-ish but make sure it matches your skin tone--rosey or golden: can blend in lip color for cheek, lip, lids, contouring/shading, etc.)
LIPSTICK (shade you would wear for stage, blend this with the cream color base for deeper cheek/lip color)
BLACK TRACK (can create fine lines or smudge it for smokiness)

Re: Apricot for All!
Oh wow, thanks so much Azhia, that just sounds like exactly what I need. Black Track sounds delish and the cream base perfect for versatility... oh I can't wait to go make-up shopping
I went in for a scout at the MAC counter today and while I was playing with the apricot-ish cream blushers the girl slipped me a little sample pot (Ilicent) which I tried out at as soon as I hit home.
So after the first moment of "omg I put too much on and don't know what to do with all this goop" panic I managed to do a respectable blending job and it just looks so, so natural... I'm in love and can't wait to wear it on stage tomorrow to see how the camera likes it :-).

Re: Apricot for All!
Hi Azhia,
I posted a pic on "makeup for blondes" in this forum in which I am using the Ilicent on my cheeks. I had to use on my lips too because I had no lippy to match... it wore ok, hope that's ok to do that?

Re: Apricot for All!
Sure, why not? Makeup is just creams, powders, and liquids. Marketing would like the GP to think that this can only be used for that so that we end up buying a cream cheek color + lipstick + cream eye shadow but one product can be used for many things, as you have so aptly demonstrated. Bravo!!
It's PERFECT on your lips and cheeks! Gorgeous!

Thanks so much for the suggestion Azhia. I would never had tried anything but a rosey colour if it wasn't for this thread, and I'm so happy with it... I didn't even realise I was in a makeup rut...lol
I am so getting your dvd honey *hugs*

Re: Apricot for All!
Me three. Years ago I was looking for a suit and I tried a style on in the only colour available in my size (they were going to order a black one for me) - peach/apricot. I looked *repellently ugly*. My skin at 24, which was very good, looked as uneven and awful as it does now that I am 45 and actually have skin issues. Only worse.
I do have an eyeshadow that someone gave me, that edges towards the apricot side of pink, which is not bad provided I keep it very, very sheer. I suit things that are more red than yellow, it's true, but I can handle a teeny bit of yellow so long as it is very pale.
