False Lashes/Big Hair Tutorials!
Just to give a flavor of the makeup DVD, I'm throwing up 2 teasers: applying full band false lashes, and creating volume with back combing.
Enjoy!

Re: YouTube Teasers!
Hey Azhia, those are great! I got sidetracked for awhile watching the dance videos, there are some nice ones. I really like the ones with the live band, that must have been quite a show.
Watching the clip on backcoming made me wonder about doing that with human hair extensions clipped into the hair. I'm always paranoid about the clips showing through my fine thin hair.
You raq!

Re: YouTube Teasers!
Is backcombing bad for your hair? I was always led to believe that doing so breaks your hair strands and causes split ends. I'd love to be corrected as it does create great volume.

Re: YouTube Teasers!
When done (and brushed out properly) back combing is not bad for the hair. Split ends are on the ends of the hair shaft; back combing is done at the root. Go very gently, exactly as shown so that you are not causing breakage; that brush is amazing and helps a great deal, too.
Before I was shown how to do this properly, I was convinced that it was bad for my hair, too, b/c to me it was about "ratting" it out, rather than gently and deliberately building volume at the root (hard to tell from the video, but I'm doing this very softly, albeit quickly). You can do it!

Re: YouTube Teasers!
Just wanna say I have both Azhia's dvds: I believe these are MUST-HAVEs in anyone's video library, if you career requires your image to be "out there" viewed by an audience/clients/public. I especially love the Basic Makeup dvd b/c I used to be so confused with all the "trade tools" in the market now, never mind the sheer volume of tool types, as well as the vast number of makeup & hair products and how to use them! False eyelashes were my absolute nemesis--now since the video & in-person session w/Azhia, I use them happily anytime I have an event (not just bellydance, like family weddings for example:)).
My Husband even sat enthralled & fascinated through the whole dvd & rewinds of sections with me!!! He's so metrosexual!..l;,

Re: YouTube Teasers!
I'm ordering mine today!!!
:-)
The first time I saw this post, I went out that night and bought several different Ardel lashes (didn't know what type would look best on me).
Tried this technique, it was much quicker (and cleaner), than techniques I've tried in the past with Halloween lashes.
My BF LOVED the look!!!

Re: False Lashes/Big Hair Tutorials!
Okay, enough teasing. When and where can I buy this?
I wore false eyelashes for the very first time last week. It was a great accomplishment for me but it would have gone a lot easier if I had seen this DVD.

Re: YouTube Teasers!
I use this technique with success. My question for you Azhia is:
What's better for fine hair? comb or a brush? My hair is long layered and just to my shoulders but fine. And if it's the brush, do I look for a "back combing brush?" I have seen combs of that name but never a brush. Where would I find it? Thanks doll.

Re: YouTube Teasers!

I love back combing brushes (it's what I used in the tutorial); you can get black laquered wooden ones at Sally's Beauty Supply. Their uses are multi: more effective back combing, you can smooth with the brush portion, and it has a fat rattail end for sectioning.
I like hairsprays that are moldable, especially for fine hair. L'Oréal's Elnett (available now at Target I hear, though I had to have my sister smuggle me some from Germany), Aveda's Air Control, Bumble & Bumble's Spray de Mode.
