Would this be too out of place?

I have a LRose velvet beledi dress that I can wear with an American Icon bedlah. I know the GP probably wouldn't notice, but would it be bizarre to dance to a 9/8 in it?

Gah... meant to say an Oriental 9/8, not Romany.

I would do it but I'm not a purist.

Just wanted to add that I always dance with tummy covers or beledi dresses. Much as I appreciate what the tummy covers do for me, they are kind of a pain. Sometimes I will just opt for a dress. They are flattering and I love them.

I try to coordinate the music and costuming, of course, but I'm an eclectic dancer anyway, so hey. Purist police can fire away, LOL!

It may be a wee bit odd, but if your style and stage persona gels it all together, then I would be the first in line to enjoy the performance and cheer you on. (But, similar to Dunyah, I am in perpetual danger of getting dragged off stage by the purist police.)

As long as you are not announcing that you are doing an authentic anything! 9/8 was a frequent part of the old Am Cab routine-and it was performed in about any kind of costume.

    For some of us-still is!
