Thread: Panel Skirt

OK girls i'm choreographing a piece for my beau's b-day, and i'm looking for a "panel skirt"? i dunno what it's really called and i can't find one anywhere...but it's basically two pieces of long rectangular fabric attached to a waist band about 4 inches wide. alot of tribal dancers wear them over like melodia pants..is that an official name? or is is just called a panel skirt.

Yup - that's what it's called.

Soooo easy to make. As you said - just two rectangles of fabric, hem the edges (or use that iron on hem stuff), and attach them to a piece of 1" elastic fit to your hips. This way you can wear it under an existing belt or hip scarf.
Or attach to a wider strip of matching fabric that ties at the hip.

Thank you...the elastic is a good idea..but i'm not that great of a seamstress..learning but meh..i may have to make it.

I'm working on this now. But I'm actually thinking about just pinning it to the top of my pants; one panel in front and one in back. Bad idea?

Ideas for how long and wide to make them? Is there an average size, or just whatever I decide best works in my total look?

The latter. I've seen 'em in all sorts of different configurations.
