Need help fitting me my legend costume bra
This is driving me nuts. I got a costume month ago and alter the bra every gig (which now is 3 times) and it is still not fitting right.
http://www.olafheeg.de/SHARI/galerie...s/PA167469.jpg
http://www.olafheeg.de/SHARI/galerie...s/PA167490.jpg
It arrived with criss-cross straps. Had to shorten them. The sidestraps is with 3 straps and the upper one was now and then sticking out when moving. Fixed it with elastics. Danced with it. Felt my boobs fell out of the bra to the middle.
Changed the straps to not crossing. Danced again, found the upper edge was cutting in but when lifting my arms you could almost look into the bra.
Shortened the straps and changed the angle how the straps are attatched to the bra now coming more from the sides (if this makes any sense). Saved the problem from sticking off when lifting the arms but the upper edge is still cutting in.
Whatever I did,my boobs are always moving midways while dancing with it, which has the effect they start spilling out a bit and the upper egde then cuts into them.
I feel the problem is the bra cups are standing too wide appart plus they don't keep shape, they are large but flatten on the body.
Anyone having a tip for me? Neckholder style? Adding something to the topedge of the bra? Or just taping me into the cups for every performance?

Re: Need help fitting me my legend costume bra
I'm not sure I'm understanding the problem completely.
If you padded the bra only on the inner part of the cup, I wonder if it would keep them from moving midways while dancing with it?
It's gorgeous, I love the colors!
Or, I'd cut the straps off another bra that fits, and tack it inside the legend bra.
I hope you can work it out, you look GORGEOUS IN IT!!!
:-)
I like the elastic idea better too!Last edited by gothique; 12-21-2008 at 04:31 PM. Reason: add photos and how to.

You look amazing in that costume! A perfect compliment to your skin. If there were a way to move the cups closer together so that there were more coverage towards the middle, you might feel more comfortable. I know you're an excellent sewer so if anyone could rework the beading it would be you.
If that doesn't work, you could always sell it to me ..g.:

You and the costume look amazing. It sure doesn't look as if it isn't fitting. Hope you find the answer because that costume looks wonderful on you.

I would like to add...if you make the 'bra inserts', you don't have to sew them in...just pin them, and try them out first, to save yourself the trouble.
I sure hope you can make it work...it looks SO GOOD on you!!!!! :-)

Re: Need help fitting me my legend costume bra
Have you tried putting elastic (horizontally, in a thread casing) on the part between the bra cups to pull them in? As it appears to be a triangular shaped insert, maybe even one elastic across the top part and one across the bottom. Once it's on it shouldn't buckle noticeably, but it could possibly still bring them in closer proximity to each other without having to do major bra surgery.

Re: Need help fitting me my legend costume bra
Hmm. have to try this. The middle section of the bra is triangular and very wide at the bottom. I once had a costume I did something similar to the bra for getting the cups closer together with a additional strap under middle section.
I don't know it padding is the right way, the bra is the right size when holding on but somehow on the wrong places.
I also tried to add the silicon rubber from hold-up stockings to sew to the edge of the bra and my boobs still move out
I think I'll play around a bit more with elastics and different ways to attatch the straps.Last edited by sha-ri; 12-21-2008 at 05:34 AM.

Hmm...I'm not seeing the problem in the photos. In fact it *looks* like it fits you perfectly. I don't see any spilling over, falling out, or cutting in happening. Not saying its all in your head, just saying its not showing up in the photos.

Re: Need help fitting me my legend costume bra
Actually, I can see what you mean in the photos - looks great, but when I am alerted of the issue, I can see the squisheroo to the middle and the digging in top. It must be something German ;-)
Similar to what Samira suggested: Maybe bringing the cups closer together, but mostly at the bottom of the inter-cup triangle may help? It appears that possibly shifting the cups a wee bit more into a shelf/demi-bra shape could perhaps be beneficial?

Re: Need help fitting me my legend costume bra
To me it looks as if there are two issues.
1) you don't need as much height as the cup has at the outer upper corners (near the strap).
2) from the picture it seems your girls might need more depth in the cup- also- your first post you mentioned that it flattens.
I know on Eman and Sahar bras you can move where the bra strap attaches to the cup to gain or lessen cup depth. That could be a little more involved with this one because of the beautiful sequin work on the cup and how it extends up the strap. It would actually require "surgery".
It depends upon the construction of the bra- but it looks like if the bra top edge continued on a slightly more horizontal line from where the reddish colored swirlie starts...and if the bra strap attached maybe 1/2-3/4 of an inch out to the side from where it is now...and was either a cross back or halter, I think it might do the trick.

Re: Need help fitting me my legend costume bra
Yeah I agree with Samirah's post. It looks like more depth is needed. Have you tried pinning the armbands or another peice of the costume to the front of it to give it a little more surface area. I have done that in the past with armbands. I have the same issue with the boobage! ;-)
Its strange cause my legend costume had a totally different bra shape and it fit perfectly! See pics at link below...

Re: Need help fitting me my legend costume bra
If you didn't want to sacrifice your armbands I would try to find some very similar fabric to the skirt and line the bra (which would fix being able to see in at the sides) and then extend the edge to give more coverage. You could cover the extra fabric with complementary sequins or rhinestone trim. Not an easy job though, and not sure if it would assist with the "squashing" effect, but it might make you feel more comfortable when dancing.
Wishing you the best of luck with making it work for you ... but if you ever want to sell this gorgeous set, drop me a line :)

Re: Need help fitting me my legend costume bra
Wow!! Thats a gorgeous colour on you. I have a Legend that I got from Tanya LVearlier this year and I just LOVE it. I wasgoing to suggest using the headband to create a bit more coverage-but another option is "tapping" I know that celebrities sometimes "tape" their assests into their lower cut or more revealing dresses. Hope you can sort it out! Its so lovely!!

Ah, now I see. Sorry, I don't have any suggestions. I'm sort of having the opposite problem right now.

This is what I've been trying and failing to deal with. B cup boobies don't fill up D cup bras, even with pushup pads. I'll be posting this on the swap page next month...

Did it come with a head band? sew that along the top to help with the depth factor.

Re: Need help fitting me my legend costume bra
The other thing I have done before (if you don't want to sacrifice armbands or headband) is to use the chiffon veil that comes with it. I usually replace mine with silk anyhow. The edges are already beaded/sequined and you can gather it easily at the top of the bra with a few stitches!

Re: Need help fitting me my legend costume bra
Or add a 'bib' of a matching mesh between bra cups and the upper edge of the bra. Sounds strange but it creates a bit of lift and certainly coverage. I have even used part of the veil to create the bib, using the beaded edge as the area closest to my neck. I would cut more of the beadwork and tack it to the bib to continue to design in the bra. Along the lines of what mmouse1534 mentioned.
Anala's pictorial of how she extended bra cups might be worth a glance. I hope to use that technique on a few sets that are currently much worse than your picture. They make me appear to have 4 boobs, all squishy. Anala also mentioned something about receiving a costume (it may have been Lauren's assuit ensemble, not certain), that fit once she mashed the outer edges of each underwire together a bit so she had the hammock type cups she prefers. It made the cups deeper. Might be worth a try, easy to reshape if needed and no sewing. I tried it on one costume and it worked fine, but not on the others.

Re: Need help fitting me my legend costume bra
Try this...release the straps from the front of the cups if you dare. I cant tell how they are connected from here, but usually the straps are made seperatley from the cups. Now adjust the chest band so that it doesnt ride up your back - as it will if the straps are too short. Now that the cups are free floating, put tension on various areas of the cup edges to see where the best pressure point is to contain the sisters. I have generous soft breast tissue that must lay heavily at the bottom of the cup to avoid the over risen bread dough look. I fear the cup height may not be tall enough to coral your critters, but get the chest band in the proper place first. It is up your back way too much which allows the girls to fall forward. You may need to modify by adding fabric to the top of the cup in a gracefull ruching gather and adding more body and support (and maybe also length) to the neck staps with the addition of a chiffon style halter, using the existing straps as horizontal bands to decorate the Samia style halter..or...sell it to me! It is beautiful and so are you!

Re: Need help fitting me my legend costume bra
Hmmm, I usually wear my straps very short but the backstrap right below the shoulders, keeps the girls high.
There came a necklace with it, I think I will try to add a ribbon to the top of the cups with the fabric and beads from that to give more coverage. I feel the bra cups are wrong shaped for me, to much triangular.

Keeping the girls high should be the work of the band and the cups, not so much the straps .

Re: Need help fitting me my legend costume bra
Seeing the close up picture, I strongly feel that even though the cups are the right size (height and width) they are not deep enough. They flatten/squeeze your boobs, that's why they are trying to escape.
Have you thought about adding buckram to harden the cups and give them shape? (not sure if there is already buckram inside). If you add buckram, add two pieces, 1 larger one for the bottom part, and a smaller one for the top. They are boght oval shape, the smaller one has the shape of an "eye"; when you glue them in, you can position them to get some depth.
I think that would fix the problem.
I'm not sure by bringing the cups closer you would fix the problem, I think they would try to "escape" even more, having less room to fit in.
