Painting over sequins?
Happy Holidays!
I just have a few quick questions. Has anyone ever painted on sequins already on a costume? Is it insanely hard? What have you used, I was thinking an enamel-based paint of some kind...

Re: Painting over sequins?
I recently spent several days pondering that question, I opted for nail polish. To make the touched-up sequins appear more planned I also purchased glitter polish and scattered glittery touch-ups throughout. For me I found using a thin coat, allowing it to dry then adding a second thin coat was best. The costume mentioned was eggplant, teal, fuchsia, gold and bronze. The glittery sequins ended-up looking quite lovely. The costume belonged to a friend that wanted emergency repairs. The costume had been well-loved. The sequins along the top edge of the belt, under the arms and the neck straps needed attention. Might be worth considering.

Sharpie marker...It rocks...might have to do a few coats...clear nail polish over...the sheen of the sequins will still shine through!

Edited to add: I did this on red, purple, silver, and gold...yes they even make metallic sharpies.

Sharpies. Who knew?!? Obviously BernieV, of course. Great idea. Adding an assorted lot of Sharpies (metallics included), to my list for tomorrow's errands.

Hehe! This is why I love BHUZ!! ..g.:
BTW...It'll also work on a lesser coverage on the plastic Pharonix beads that peel...

Re: Painting over sequins?
Does sharpie work on faded Pharaonics beads as well? I have been using nail polish, but I find it chips as much as the original paint. :Aohmy:

Re: Painting over sequins?
You really have to put on lots of coats of sharpie, especially if the beads are white plastic underneath....and it only seems to blend in on the smaller beads...The big dangling beads I still used nail polish...with clear over coats...
Wait for the sharpie to dry before adding another coat...
Good LucK! ..g.:
