anyone tried to make these harem pants before?
Adira Dance and Costume: B.D. Pattern #2010 Harem Pants with 4 Style Variations
view #2
what fabric is best for this type w/o making it see through?
they have suggested ''chiffon, net, light weight metallic knits" but without those in front of me i can't tell which one provides the most coverage
anyone else have any other ideas? I wanna make a pair of black ones

The best thing to do is go to a fabric store and spend hours looking for the fabrics - I don't know names of fabric like I use to. Sorry, that's not much help. You don't want anything that's going to hold sweat like a knit, plus I think it would be too heavy... try a crepe fabric maybe?

stretch velvet? slinky? foiled lycra?
chiffon or net would require multiple layers to be opaque and would likely add a lot of bulk.
look for textures that may add opaqueness too

Try cotton lycra (that's a knit - I'm guessing) or metallic lycra That would be cool for the harems that bind below the knee and flare out on the bottom with the slit on the sides.

Satin backed crepe is opaque and looks very rich.

Doesn't Marianna have a pair like these for sale that she made? I thought they were made of stretch velvet. I could be wrong

Rayon challis is nice for harem pants, totally opaque and very comfy to wear.

Light- to medium-weight jerseys and lycras are nice for harem pants, but my favorite fabric is stretch satin. Some people prefer the way tricot makes up, but I don't care as much for that. I like a little stretch in my costumes. That way, the fabric has a some give to it if I accidentally step on the hem!
