i think those are fantastic! i'd be scared of ruining them though lol.
my friend found this dancer's website, i haven't had time to look at the vids yet but went through her photo gallery. anyone in need of inspiration ought to, she has a couple of really neat costume ideas! ..g.:

What is it with belly dancers and peacocks, anyway? Every dancer I know (me included) has or wants a peacock costume. For me it's the colors and texture I love.

cos peacocks are "exotic" and "royal" without overdoing it?
because the color combination looks good on everyone? (not too bright, not too dark, good with warm tones as well as cold ones..)
cos they look so earthy and blingy at the same time?

I agree. I think it's likely that they were just used for pictures, as opposed to something you would actually perform with. That's my guess, at least. They are fabulous, though!

Oh I have already figured that part out. Bahahahahah <evil laugh>

at first it looks like it's just the feathers somehow holding together (sewn??), but you know what i'd bet on?
you know those see-through plastic sheets, that you can put pressed-dried flowers and such on... where you put plastic sheet / flower / plastic sheet, and you iron them together and the 2 plastic sheets melt together and the flower is glued in and protected?
i bet that's how these are made. biiiiiiiiiiiiiiiig plastic sheets!
cos the wings look mighty see-through other than the feathers, but if you look at the wing on the left of the pic, where the background is that dark big rock, you can see the feathers are "surrounded" by something.
Anyhoo, if i find time to make some wings like this, that's how i'd make them..

I love this picture on her site. Just the look on the "sultan's" face is priceless....hehe
