    Sparkly belly covers

I've seen a few videos of dancers with sparkly belly covers. How do you make a belly cover sparkly? or where can I find one of these?

I had 2 Pharoanics costumes that came with matching beaded belly covers - the beads were sewn onto the fabric. Maybe a special order through them? I'm not sure if they do that but worth looking into.

Of course, you can always buy a Bedazzler. ..g.:

I'm going to try one of those sparkly belly bindis under a fishnet tummy cover and see how that works.

If you just want the body stocking as a whole to shimmer, you can buy one of the metallic power net ones that Sugar Petals sells. They come in gold on black, silver on white, silver on black and iris on white. The white iris can be dyed to whatever color suits you.

Exactly why I have managed to avoid one - I'm afraid I'd bedazzle a cozy for my cat or something (no, I do not currently have any clothing for my cat and only the requisite winter coat for my dog).

I also sell metallic body stockings at Designs By Janie - home page Mine are mesh, not powernet, so they hug you.

You can hot fix rhinestones to regular body stockings. You can also sew sequins to body stockings, which I describe in my Body Stocking booklet.

Haven't tried my bedazzler on one yet.

Doesn't Kharis sell fishnet ones with rhinestones already on them?

I like to spray mine with glitter hairspray right before i dance, it's temporary but effective (I buy a couple of bottles of cheap glitter hairspray every Halloween -- good for belly covers, bare shoulders & bellies... you can even put it on your hair if you want!)

I keep thinking I'm going to sew some sequins onto a belly cover, but it keeps not happening.

I have a Gem Magic which is the same thing as a Bedazzler. How would I do that without snagging the mesh?

I thought about the spray glitter that stuff is so messy. You get glitter everywhere and you can never get it all cleaned up. I have doggies that like to like the floor so I don't want to bling their tummies. Lol.

If you hot fix them, what would I use? Would that effect the stretch in that spot?

the Bedazzler uses heat to melt glue on the back of "hot-fix stones" which are the crystals that have glue on them; the Gem Magic is a tool for setting prongs over stones, which does tend to snag non-woven fabrics.

I also use spray-on glitter for it's temporary effect! I love it and stock up after halloween when it's on clearance!

    Re: Sparkly belly covers

you can get the sew on rhinestones and stitch them to the net individually. takes forever!

or you can use e6000 cement and tiny rhinestones. i did this recently for an event that required extra coverage for "the girls". i got a piece of flesh colored power net and used e6000 to glue hundreds of tiny crystals to the net. it took 3 days to cure, but it can be stretched and sewn and washed by hand and the stones wont come off.

this would surely work for a body stocking too if you glued tiny stones at the junctions of the mesh

you can see it here sewn between the bra cups

Tonight for a performance I put sparkly belly bindis on under my flesh-tone fishnet belly cover and they sparkled through. I used a little eyelash glue on them.

As far as I know the Bedazzler uses pronges to set stones, not hot glue. That's my understanding. I was curious if the pronges snag and I'm now told it does not.

yes, e6000 is available at most craft stores. you can also buy it on line. just make sure to use it in a well ventilated place cause it smells horrific till it dries.

and thanks! that costume is a hanan from dahlal. i think someone is selling an orange one just like it in the swap.

oh, and the gloves were a swap purchase sorry can't remember from who

Nice dance video, and I love the little net cover. I wanna make one. What size rhinestones did you use?

I only know from using them on lycra....bad experience (one of the prongs cut the fabric) so I switched to hot-fix type of tool. I still use the prong-type on jeans and stuff like that. I was thinking of getting rid of it but glad I kept it around-might be useful for putting studs and stuff on tribal things!

I stoned up a skating dress with 1200 hot-fix stones.....that took 2 weeks of on-again/off-again followed up with a visit to my chiropractor. But it played out gorgeous on the ice!!! never again!!!

Thanks for the link Andalee, but I'm looking for a sparkle effect (like bling, rhinestones) not a shimmer effect.

Okay, if you glue stones onto a belly cover, once dried, you put on the belly cover (I have a Sugar petals power mesh, I think) will it pull funny where the stones are glued?
