Wings for shorties?
I am interested in maybe getting a pair of wings. But I have shied away from them for quite some time because I thought they would look horrible on me. I am pretty short. Are there any shorties out there with wing experience? Do they come in a smaller size?

You can custom order wings from Ayshe :: Ayshe :: Passion Bellydance :: Wings of Ayshe :: Ayshe is New York dance artist performing belly dance, Indian dance and fusion styles in theaters, nightlife venues, for private and corporate events. Ayshe designs and produces "Wings of Isis"
She is a really nice person. I got my wings from her and they fit perfectly. Not to mention they are stunning.

I am 5'1"; I have a pair I bought on Bhuz - they're in my profile pic - and they fit fine. The only thing I (still) need to do it obtain and insert longer dowels.

Re: Wings for shorties?
I'm short at 5'2" and I perform with wings. its a luck of the draw thing. Sometimes you can find a pair that's short enough but most times not.
You can get them custom made by Ayshe or you can get them taken up at the neck piece which is more efficient than doing the hem.
Which reminds me, I've got to take my double sided leopard print pair to my tame seamstress sometime soon.

Re: Wings for shorties?
I use wings, and there are two women in my troupe who are slightly shorter than me/have shorter arms and they use them as well. Basically I've come across some wings that truly were too long...but they're not necessarily made to a standard size, so sometimes they're long, sometimes they're short, and shorter "normal" ones fit shorter people ok.
If you are somewhere where you can check them out in person before buying, just try them on first. If not, as the others said, there are custom options, or you can have a seamstress with a nice serger trim them.

Re: Wings for shorties?
Amira Mor sells arm band wings that I have used with ease because of the length.
I would warn you that they appear to be a bit on the flimsy side. I'm 5'1" and I look for the lightweight wings because I find them easier to use regardless of length.
Also you can have a pair made custom Ayshe, her wings are lovely and worth every penny (I only wish I had enough pennies to own a pair) ..l;,

Re: Wings for shorties?
I'm more average height I think, plus I dance in heels usually. But I bought a pair of wings off of ebay and I shortened them by a couple inches. It really wasn't that hard. Just time consuming and tedious. But I know you can handel that.
I don't think height or body shape matters when it comes to wings. It's like veil, I don't think veil is just for taller people. Wings are just another prop to dance with. Go for it, they're fun.

Re: Wings for shorties?
I'm 4'11" and way too impatient to order anything custom, so I usually do a little nip-tuck at the neck piece and this always works fine for me. Just roll the wing over the neckband until you get the right length and tack it into place. Voila!
The beauty of this procedure is that even if your sewing isn't the neatest, your hair (assuming that your hair goes past the nape of your neck) should cover it.

I've never tried them, but I saw this style called "Fairy Wings" that are supposed to be a little shorter.
