Jacket help
Anyone know how to go about making this sheer jacket? ( if the link does not work its under the Eman tab, 2nd page, there's 2 models in the pic with canes, one is wearing green
https://www.dahlal.com/default.aspx?n=1&lpc=1&lpo=1
But I want one side to come down across the belly, on one side, like in this costume, (I want to make it so I have the option to cover the one cup or leave them both out)

it looks easy but I don't know where to start
Also I want to make the whole thing out of a sheer fabricLast edited by toria_dances; 01-12-2009 at 11:52 PM.

Re: Jacket help
no one?
I was thinking maybe a choli top, like a U top, that covers the back and ties in front, only make one tie really long, and the other tie short and attach it under the arm pit?

Re: Jacket help
that's a really neat idea.
i think what you're describing would work...
i'd just say, if you want to make it so it can either show both cups or cover one, be careful about how much fabric you use. if it's not enough to cover the cup, that'd be too bad, but if it's too much, when you decide not to cover it, the fabric might bunch up in an unattractive way... if you use sheer fabric it shouldn't be too much of a problem.
how are you going to hook the jacket extension onto on your skirt?

Re: Jacket help
That was my question too... I was sitting flipping back and forth between the Dahlal pic and your post...
The other question I had was are you always going to tie it shut whether covering one side or showing both? If you're not going to tie how is the short side going to stay closed?
It kind of seems like a small hook and eye to connect the long tail of the jacket and the inside of the skirt and to connect the short side to the long side when not going to tie might work.
Just some thoughts... I'd love to see what other people say

Re: Jacket help
Stretch fabric would certainly make adjustments easier but too much stretch and it could quickly stretch-out of shape. Might be worth considering making a shrug type garment and having the tummy cover as an additional piece that attaches with tiny hooks inside the bra cup. Much more flexible and the fabric would keep the look consistent. Interesting concept, thanks for posting.

Re: Jacket help
all good ideas and questions.
1) was going to hook the long end in down in the waist with a hook and eye
2) the short end will come around under the breast, (like a U-top) and hook under the long belly cover piece, near the arm pit
I looked online for a choli pattern but I only found ones with a open back.
Txchic has a good point if I can find a U top pattern, then add in a elongated triangle piece to come across one cup and down in the the skirt?
