Thread: Noussa vs Abla: Comparison?

Hey everyone,

I was just wondering what the quality of a Noussa costume is in comparison with an Abla. I know that Ablas are known to be great "workhorses," lasting for years, and since Noussa is Abla's daughter-in-law, I was just wondering if she's carrying on the same tradition. Is there much of a difference? Does anyone have any personal experience?

I have and love my costumes from both and although they are of very good quality, Abla costumes had a little more fantasy in the way of design and decoration.

I own about 20 Noussa's (about half the amount that I sold here on bhuz!)
I actually find that Noussa thinks outside of the box a little more than Abla did. She is always trying to create new designs but still keeps her classic flavour! I sit there for hours with her putting together new creations...:)

I have costumes from both designers & I love them both. They are sturdy and gorgeous. I think noussa's designs have more heavy beading and fewer sequins. I think the noussa designs are a little more interprative or more abstract if that makes sense. I also love the way they fit me. I bought my noussa off the rack at a festival. It was my 30th birthday presnt to me & I had to buy it because I put it on & it fit like it had been custom made for me. I've had it for 2 years & its been worn a dozen or more times & looks brand new & I love it every time I put it on. There are quite a few noussas on the swap right now, you could run a search on that forum & see a nice variety of noussa designs.

they're both great! the late mme abla, as mentioned is more orientale, fantasy, heavy and sequin laden......the ultimate in bling and fringe.......wonderful work, and TOUGH and heavy...

noussa is the exact same quality, but a bit more modern, more crystals, less sequins, not so heavy on the fringe, but still have a strong orientale element for those that like that.....also very heavy and sturdy.........

Noussa's are fantastic...I have owned many throught the years...I am an Abla fanatic as well. The main difference...for me...is the bra. The shape is less rounded on a Noussa in my opinion. Abla's were miracle bra's for all!
Both designers are a must!!
