    Need costume advice please! UPDATED

    I am dancing in a 'really big show' tomorrow, and I am agonizing over costume choice.. I am doing an AmCab style performance, upbeat song by Emad Sayyad (almost sounds Greek to me), veil, drum solo. I want to wear my new Eman, but feel it won't "jive" with the bellydance crowd in attendance. Do you think I am right and should wear a bedlah/skirt outfit? Thanks!

    I posted this in Music traditions and thought maybe this was a better place to post it.

    My feeling is that if you're doing AmCab for a stage show, go all out! Do the big skirt, the blingy bedlah, the zills, the veil, the curled hair, thick upper lash line, everything!

    Whatever you pick will be fabulous though. You have gorgeous costumes!

    If you come up here for the thing on Feb 1st, bring the Eman! I've drooled over it since it went up on the swap (at least I think it's that one you're talking about) :)

    I agree...I find that many audiences are expecting to see lots of bling with flowing chiffon or silk and veils...but you dance very lovely so they should be pleased whatever you wear!

    Thanks for all the kind words, everyone! I am really excited about this show and can't wait. I am wearing my gorgeous gunmetal/grey bedlah with a chiffon black/silver skirt, and a white/black veil! And lots of blingy rhinestones, too.

    Malia, I will definitely bring the Emans to Seattle in Feb! Costume party, Yay!

    So glad I went with the bedlah/big skirt! I bought a skirt at the show, it looked AMAZING with the bedlah, the backdrop was red so the silver costume really popped! And I was the only one doing Cabaret dancing, everyone else was tribal or tribal-ish or fusion. And Amy Sigil and Sara from Unmata totally rocked my world, they are awesome dancers and super nice ladies, too! Photos when I get some sent to me (forgot the camera)

    Jewel, it doesn't matter what you wear, as long as you feel beautiful and confident! ,r:;

    I agree! Wear your most sparkly get up and pile on the rhinestones and makeup!
