Ozma..you have special dispensation as well as a prepaid indulgence to purchase that nice costume at that price...I really like it. And the Inflamed Phoonanie really should find a new home....

Re: Costume Addicts Anonymous
I'll photograph, measure, and get translations for selling my agressive Turkish bedlah when I get home tonight.
It's a sturdy workhorse and costume prices are still sorta insane in Japan, so I can probably sell it on mixi no problem. I've figured out where to sell my huge black cotton skirt in two weeks as well, and that's on my list to sell locally.

Re: Costume Addicts Anonymous
I think I should either be rewarded or punished once I sell it.
God knows it's too well known on Bhuz ( and teh swap meet too full) for me to try to sell it here....so Japan...WATCH OUT!
I know the former owner would buy it back from me, we both have a very fond place in our hearts for it, but she recently had a child and is now chestier than I.

How are we doing ladies?
We all know about my costume purchase and we all know about slipping back into old habits.
I remind myself that, just like a healthy diet, a spending slip up shouldn't send you into a downward spiral of "f it, why not eat ten pounds of chocolate/drunkenly binge/buy veils/stroll the costume pages like a sailor after payday...I've already proven my spirit is weak and easy."

Re: Costume Addicts Anonymous
I have bought a hip scarf...a pair of pants...and a veil. All of them not even in the same color family, so in no way can that be misconstrued as a costme. Unless you are a sparkly bag lady.
Whipper Snapper huh?...Like in - Whip? Dont answer...I would rather keep that as a fond fantasy.

I know I am not welcome on this thread (SNORT), BUT just my two cents anyway:
Hip scarf, pants, veil --- shouldn't count. "Just because you repaired a brake light, got a new paint job, or bought new seat covers, it don't mean you got a new car, baby .......... "
(running back to the Swap Meet, 120 miles an hour ....... before you guys run over me and I'm road kill ......)

Re: Costume Addicts Anonymous
We aren't anti-costume here. I am not going to give up my local rep of being a a magical costume source and wearer. We're just about buying smarter and knowing financial limits.
I'm in a market where I can be very eccentric and a little old school in my costuming tastes...I generally perform for average Japanese, Turkish ex-pats, and eccentric world-music oriented Japanese. Your ME scene where you live IS more geared towards new fashions, so you have more justification to buy new...
but we'll get you eventually.

Re: Costume Addicts Anonymous
I live in a place where they dont know the dif..but that not what drives me to buy anyway... I am a greedy and fickle magpie, that simple. And all are welcome, come into the light, children ...all are welcome....
Just because you repaired a brake light, got a new paint job, or bought new seat covers, it don't mean you got a new car, baby ..
So..if I get a Bhuzzer the sell me the bra, then the belt...and then the skirt, all in different transactions, thats exempt too, huh? *runs off to negotiate*Last edited by anala; 02-14-2009 at 11:09 PM.

Re: Costume Addicts Anonymous
I SUSPECT THIS IS A FAR AS YOU'LL GET WITH ME: MAKING MY OWN COSTUMES (I'VE ONLY MADE TWO COMPLETE ONES IN MY ENTIRE BD LIFE) ...... INSTEAD OF WORKING 120 HOURS A WEEK TO BUY THEM (WHICH DOESN'T SEEM TO BE AN OPTION ANYMORE.......
(Does making your own count? Hmmmmmmm........)

Re: Costume Addicts Anonymous
I've been really inspired by the "what are you working on" thread ..... so there IS hope for me! (Sorry, it seems I was "screaming" in my previous post--not intentional, somehow the bold face clicked on).
On a serious note, my cravings for costumes have subsided long enough for something else to sneak in ...... is there room on this thread for someone who is irrationally craving an Ed Hardy black leather jacket? There's that other side. Costume addict--dominant personality. But there is this darker side, the biker babe wanna-be. It's just this one jacket, the only one I want. And I want it bad. Can't have it, not possible, but it's just as overwhelming as if it were a sparkling Eman. WWCAAs do? I've checked for second-hand ones on Ebay, no luck. I can't put my face into frozen pomegranate yogurt forever. Any advice other than "get over it"?

Re: Costume Addicts Anonymous
Go to a store where they sell them and try it on and walk around in it for a while..maybe even buy it and return it the next day (dangerous). Perhaps the thrill will be gone after actually seeing yourself in it in the flesh instead of your minds eye. Never did this myself, but it seems logical? The thrill is usually gone for me after wearing it for 15 minutes in a mirror.
And no...making it yourself doesnt count at all, unless you hoard stuff under your bed and never get to it....oh, did I just say that?...I have no idea about that either... ;-@

Re: Costume Addicts Anonymous
I actually DID go into a store -- it's $200 more there than on line ..... I wasn't brave enough to try it on. Maybe I'lll go back--I'll put it on and realize NOTHING is worth that kind of $$. Good idea! Thanks!
And if making your own costumes doesn't count -- hmmm -- okay, I'll post a picture of the costume I made for myself on the "What Are you Working on Thread" -- if no one laughs me right off of Bhuz ('cause I'm totally intimidated by the talent I've seen on that thread!), maybe I'll swim over to this thread ...... maybe ....... maybe .... one day at a time .....
