Mystic Tanning Barrier Cream Techniques
So far I have spray tanned twice. Even after my second visit I think I'm well on my way of making this tan look natural.
Currently, my only complaint is that the tops of my hands and feet are just a little too dark, not freakishly, but more than the rest of my body.
What I did this last time was put on two thin layers of barrier cream, up to the ankle and up to the wrists, then put a thick layer on my palms, between fingers, and on nails.
Do you think putting on another thin layer or two of cream would help minimize the penetration of tanner?
Or do you recommend covering your hands and feet totally and attempting to blend it after the tanner is sprayed on?
Any advice for this tannin' newbie?!?

Re: Mystic Tanning Barrier Cream Techniques
Tee-hee. I used to work at a tanning salon that offered mystic tans. I have to say that short of an airbrush tan, mystic tans offer a pretty nice looking tan IF you do a good prep for your mystic & care for it.
If you plan to go regularly (once every 5 days or so):
The feet especially get kind of funky & the tan can wear very unevenly on the feet. You need to exfoliate & moisturize the tootsies to keep your toe crevasses from getting scaley and orange. Most mystic salons sell bottles of the mystic solution for doing touch ups. I would wear booties and barrier cream when you go in the booth & use the bottle of touch up lotion to do your feet. OR skip the mystic all togther on hands and feet and use one of the gradual lotion tanners like Olay makes--hint of sun or something.
You could also try a thin layer of baby oil gel or vaseline on hands and feet to provide a thicker barrier. Just be careful not to get any on the rest of your skin!

You can also wash your hands and feet sooner than you would the rest of your body. I think they suggest waiting 4-6 hours before bathing, swimming, or sweating. Try giving your hands and feet a good wash with a light exfoliant about an hour after you mystic, that could also reduce how much tanner you absorb/develop.
