Thread: DIY body stocking?

I was at the fabric store today, and they had fabulous stretch mesh on sale, royal blue with rhinestones , yummy - of course, I had to get a yard ;-) It looked like the perfect belly cover to be. Now, I am wondering what to do with it. I have no belly cover that I could use as a pattern, and no idea where to start.

Yeah, I know, impulse buys at the fabric store are a BAD idea, I should know better, I have a big stash of great projects without a plan sitting in my cabinet ...

do you have a tight tshirt, or long tank top, which fit you well and which you could use the bottom part of as a pattern?

Check the big name pattern companies for one-piece swimsuit patterns, leotard patterns, bodysuit patterns, etc. Kwik-sew used to have something, as I recall.

Aaah, THAT is a great idea! I should have thought of that myself - I am usually quite practical, but when I see sparkly fabric, my brain gets distracted.

Yeah, what she said. I keep holding onto one body suit pattern just for that reason. Now I just need to find some 2 way stretch stuff that I like....off to Philly's fabric row at some point for me.
