How to apply Mac glitter
I resently bought a set of Mac pigments, one of them being a glitter that i gorgeous. But I cant seem to make it stick as I want to.
I use Macs paintpot as a primer and then apply the Mac pigments. I would lie to use the glitter on top of that. It seems that the glitter sparkles but is not as intense in colour as I would like it, and also it seems to fall aff very easely. Is there any good tips out there to fix this problem.
The glitter in the jar ir very dark brownish/black with goldholographic glitter. I have at home and I don´t remember the name...

Re: How to apply Mac glitter
try using a full coverage concealer cream base on your lids. while its still goopy, pat in the color with a round edged, flat brush. if you work quickly you should be able to layer the glitter over the color and have it grab into the base.
the trick is to pat the product into the cream, not brush.
hope this helps

I know this may sound gross, but I swear to god it works-- lube. KY is what I usually go with, and I just apply a very light coating of it over my eyelids (after you're done with everything else), and then pat the glitter over. Light patting, not smearing, will save your eyeshadow :)

Re: How to apply Mac glitter
Hmm - I'll have to try the lube trick! I just bought some new MAC glitter goodies last week (got my pro card!) and I think they already hold very good compared to cheapo stuff, but any help is always welcome!
Razia, does it stay put during sweaty performances?

Re: How to apply Mac glitter
I've got eye kandy glitter and mac pigments and glitter. I put it on a few different ways.
for glitter (not pigments) lube works great! I prefer astroglide. I peel the label off so it's not so embarrassing to have in my makeup kit. ;) I put a tiny drop on the back of my hand. I dab my ring finger in it, then pat pat pat it on my eyelid until it's almost dry but still tacky. I dip the same finger into the glitter and tamp the glitter onto the film of lube. I wipe my finger off and get a teeny bit of fresh lube on my fingertip each time I need to dip it in the glitter again, otherwise it will clump.
the liquid sugar that comes with the eye kandy is good - I get a wide flat shadow brush damp with it, press it lightly onto the glitter, and then tamp it onto my eyelid. BUT, for me what works better than lube or liquid sugar is SheLaq. it's my does-it-all miracle potion and I can't dance without it! for glitter I use it the same way as the liquid sugar, dipping the brush in, wiping off the excess, pressing it into the glitter and applying. the SheLaq comes with extra brushes for different uses, including a long thin eyeliner brush which beats the pants off the one that comes with eye kandy.
for the mac pigments, I have good luck with putting a good layer of base on (I prefer that paint that comes in a tube over the paint in a pot), exactly as sabrina describes above. to get a layer of glitter over the pigment, I use SheLaq to apply it. tapping lube on over shadow can get messy and crease-y.
for me lube is what I use if I want a thick layer of glitter on my lid below the crease, liquid sugar is ok for an all-over coat of glitter that is more sparse applied over shadow, and SheLaq is better and more versatile than the liquid sugar. I get the least amount of creasing with SheLaq; on me and my hooded lids, the lube will crease the fastest so I tend to only do that for a short set where I don't expect to get too sweaty.

you can also use surgical adhesive or eyelas glue that dries clear.
I have to say it, BE CAREFUL with glitter near your eyes! I had a scratched cornea once and it was so miserable. I still use glitter all the time, just more cautiously.

I also swear by SheLaq. I have hooded lids AND I sweat a lot, and the eye glitter doesn't budge, even through multiple sets. I paint it on lightly over the lid, let it dry slightly, then tap the glitter on gently with the tip of my pinkie finger. I use Almay eye makeup remover pads to take it off but soap and water seems to work, too.

Re: How to apply Mac glitter
I got mine in the MAC store in Antwerp. Just ask about it, you'll have to fill out a form and give them 2 documents that prove your professional activity. I gave them a flyer and a business card. Would have taken a copy of my independent activity attest or something if I'd known, but luckily they accepted the stuff I dug out of my purse.
The card costs around €35 (forgot the exact amount), it's valid for a year and you get a 30% discount on all purchases. So, it's useful if you buy a lot.
