    False Eyelashes

Recently someone posted a wholesale lot of 25 pairs of false eyelashes on the swapmeet. I missed out, but I thought "BRILLIANT!!!". I burn through so many pairs of false eyelashes. I want to go wholesale so I always have plenty on hand but it got me thinking so let's talk:
    1. How many times can you/do you reuse a typical pair of drugstore false eyelashes?

    2. How do you clean and care for your lashes to prepare for reuse?

    3. What brands do you recommend?

    4. Has anyone ever gone the wholesale route, and if so what source do you recommend?

    Re: False Eyelashes

I was just wondering this yesterday! (well, #3 anyway). I reuse about 2-3 times, then they get gross. I have to admit, I don't much clean/care for mine except to peel off the old adhesive. I love MAC, but they are so expensive. I like Revlon second-best (they feel natural!) but they are getting as expensive as MAC. I end up buying ModLash most often because they are comparatively cheap. I didn't even know you could get them wholesale.

OMG, Sonja, don't throw your lashes away! They can definitely be salvaged.

I've had certain pairs of lashes for about a year, just by washing them when they start getting grungy. I gently peel the adhesive off of them, then swirl 'em around in some warm, soapy water, rinse them off, and leave them out to dry.

Kind of a pain in the butt, I know, but worth the hassle, especially on the more expensive lashes.

See, even when I wash mine, the lash-y bits start to clump or the clear strip gets weird and they no longer lay properly--even though I use the curved packaging to try and reshape them.
Satin, what brand do you use? Do you mascara your real and false eyelashes together or what do you do with your mascara?

Really? A year? I could do MAC if they lasted that long! I guess I just figured they weren't supposed to be used that much! Thanks!!

    Ardell Ardell Ardell Ardell Ardell.

Available at Sallly Beauty Supply or any drugstore chain.

They have many shapes that work for a variety of eyes.

They last a long time. I've use the same pair(s) for over a year. I simply peel off the glue along the band; I don't even need to wash the lashes.

They cost much less than MAC or Shu Uemura lashes ($4/pair at most).

Most important for me: they hold their shape for ease of application and durability.

I get bunches of them from Ball Beauty Supply (online) to use for myself and industry work.

    Re: False Eyelashes

Love this thread! I burn through lashes like crazy, and tend not to reuse them. For my eyeshape, I like fuller (wider) rather than longer/taller. Drugstore brands which are good are the kind in the pnik box (Azh, is that the ardell?) and weirdly, NYC brand which are only $1.99 at my local drugstore. Sometimes I take 2 pairs with complimentary shapes and combine them, depending on the look I am going for. For really big stages, I might also add another pair on the bottom, overturned.

Wasn't there also a thread at some point about where to order lashes in bulk, like 20 pairs at a time, for super-cheap? There was a website that specialized in this. maybe the thread was on the old bhuz, can't remember.....

Just wash 'em like crazy. I swear, it works! (Even on my most delicate, wispy MAC lashes).

I also have a ton of them in rotation, though, so it's not like I wear the same pair 24/7. Each pair gets a little breather.

I actually love Ardell lashes, too. I personally go for the little half-strip lashes a lot of the time. Those tend to be structurally tough and you don't have to worry about bending 'em out of shape too much. And they give you those exotic, upturned Angelina Jolie cat eyes. And they're hella cheap.

I do have my expensive MAC lashes (#32 are soooooooo beautiful), but those are more for special occasions.

I mascara my real lashes first, then apply the falsies. I also very gently run the edge of my fingernail down the length of the lashes when cleaning, to get all the goop off.

    Re: False Eyelashes

I'm an ardell fan myself. I used to have lashes from Mac & Make up Forever but they were too heavy on my eyes. I felt the need to obsessively bat my lashes, which was not what I was going for. I'm going to look into Azhia's online source. I just want to have a big stash available so I never run out.

    Ok,not really enough;)...I use Ardell´s and Duo adhesive(dark tone)
and even use #110´s instead of mascara in humid climate.
I´m lash crazy, probably because my grandma taught me how to apply lashes and eyeliner when I was a teen.

As for cleaning them, I use castor oil.

I love demi wispies. They are great for walking around the club after the show.
I just bought some Sonia Kashak ones at Target because they were exact copies of these cool crossed ones Shu made -- and they were the worst falsies I've ever tried. They were so stiff I gave up. I'll stick with my Ardells -- I love 110 and 120s too.

eyeslipsface.com has cheap and nice lashes too. One dollar a pair, and they come with a little tube of glue. ps I also love their lip glosses.

    Re: False Eyelashes

    ditto azhia.

the ardell demis are my go-tos; they're great because with the demi length, you don't have to be as precise with the placement. they're very durable and nice and fluffy! on my eyes I prefer a lash that is longer on the outside edge, rather than longest in the center. try both styles to see what works best on your eyes.

my other favorites are the romantics: Madame Madeline: Ardell Elegant Eyes ROMANTIC Lashes, Ardell Elegant Eyes Lashes

there's another brand (forgot the name - they come in little blue plastic cases?) that have little tiny holo sequins instead of the glitter. awesome.

anyhow. for durable lashes, I recommend NOT getting human hair ones - on me they clump together when I sweat and they just don't last as long. look for lashes that aren't on a delicate clear strip base. note the base on the romantics, how it's a thick black line? those are the ones that are easy to remove in one piece (both from the packaging and from your eyes) and are easier to peel excess glue from after you take them off.

if the lash band is stiff, hold the ends of the lashes and wiggle them up and down in a rainbow/inchworm/slinky spring action and that will limber them up and help them shape to your eye better.

the mac ones are pretty, and I have had a couple of pairs for fun (omg - did anybody get the black patent fishnet style ones last year??? they were so awesome and I will forever regret only buying one pair!), but they're more expensive and less durable then the ardells. they're more natural looking, but hello, I'm not wearing false lashes because I want to look natural!

I've never washed a false eyelash in my life.

    Re: False Eyelashes

whoa. I had these questions in my mind the other day after I was peeling off my lashes! I'm a blonde, so I prefer the brown lashes as they look a leetle bit more natural on me. My troupe discovered a little hole in the wall beauty supply store not far from where Rakassah East is held and found that it had lots of brown lashes! I totally stocked up.
