Get a butter-yellow veil, and somehow paint holes on it, maybe?

Are you sure you don't want to go for gorgonzola?

I think crumbly textured white with blue veining would be quite fetching with your fair features ..g.:

Is there any way you could dip-dye it a pale yellowish white and maybe cut some circular holes in it? That might be easier than painting the holes.

Are you wearing a gray costume with mouse ears?

I am very intrigued and hoping this is an interpretive version of the 90's self-help classic Who Moved My Cheese?

Heey, someone's selling a yellow veil in the Swap Meet thread... :-)

    And why cheese? Why Swiss?

(I vote for sewing or bedazzling sequins in crescent patterns to give the illusion of holes)

Painting holes in it should be pretty easy, and fabric paint is pretty cheap. I would paint the "holes" a fairly dark color, then come back in with a lighter and do kind of crescent on one side of each--Google "swiss cheese" and look at the images to get an idea.

gotta know what this is for :)

you can make blue cheese by washing your veil and leaving it wet and crumpled till it gets mildew-y and fuzzy with mold ...just kidding

i think the painting idea will work

Oh, and the scale of your "holes" should be pretty big, I'd think, or it's going to look kind of...leprous.

I got fabric paint at Michaels not long ago. I would thin them out a bit. And yes, paint the circles big. Use a bowl the size you want, draw it in heavy cardboard, then cut it out to make a stencil. Maybe make 2 sizes for variety. Are you going to be a big mouse?

Can't give away my secret! But... I'll post pics in late July when I'm all done! ;--) I promise!

Thanks for the ideas! I am going to try the bowl/painting idea on pale yellow.

Okay, amateur dyer rising to the challenge here: I would use the shibori "capping" technique:
    ENTWINEMENTS: Capped shibori

I would trace my circles on my white veil with a disappearing ink marker held in a compass (or on a string). Then I'd sew with a running stitch around the circles and draw them up tightly... then cap each of the poofs with a small plastic bag.

Then I'd throw the whole thing into a soda-ash tub dye with something like Dharma's Procion MX Golden Yellow and stir it for a while... rinse the whole thing out, then very carefully remove the resisting stitches and plastic.

Have fun! Hope it turns out, whatever you decide to do!

HAHAHAHAHA! I was forced to read that, too, for a Business Management course in college! That book was utterly craptacular.

We also had to read 7 Habits of Highly Effective People, although I liked to call it 7 Habits of Highly Defective People, because the utter Captain Obvious-ness of that stupid book drove me up a wall.

    HAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAA!

That would also replicate the pungent odor of blue cheese, beautifully!

I'm a silk painter. I would use a resist painting technique to make the circles, and maybe dye the base pale yellow, then scrunch and rough dye a darker shade over the top to give it a cheesy texture.

I would use a pale yellow veil, and draw large circle outlines in gutta, then fill in the circles with silk paint in a deeper yellow. If you make the colour stronger towards the edges the circles will look like holes.

Dye-na-flow by Jaquard is really easy to use. I second the resist idea. Make circles and then paint the holes a slightly darker color. I wouldn't use your standard fabric paint. For texture, you could add salt to the holes.

Wow, I'm glad I have a while to dye it....the capping technique looked easiest... I'll check out the resist technique.

Although I'm wondering...would it be less expensive (especially if you incorporate my time into play) if I commission one of you dyers out there to make it for m???
