    How to wash silk?

Can someone tell me if a cotton/silk blend can be washed, or does it need to be dry cleaned?

    Thanks!

It's a choli-- the brand is We3. I'm not sure what the exact fabric content is, but they advertise that it's silk/cotton blend.

Some silks can be hand washed, however, I would be very careful with imported items like that. Often the dyes are not colorfast and they will bleed right out when wet. You might want to see if you can have it dry cleaned, and if you cant, test a small area that isnt as noticable (such as under the arm) before wetting the whole thing.

i am ruthless, I throw unicolor silks in the washing machine (in a little baggie to avoid snags), those broomstick skirts are perfectly machine safe. When it's more delicate, or multi-colored, I wash silk by hand in the sink, using plenty of warm water, but I avoid letting things stand too long. I like to use small quantities of a mild shampoo, based on the reasoning that my hair and silk are relatively similar in structure.

If it's a choli, and it needs washed, I'd hand-wash in the sink.

i throw uni colour silk in my high tech washing machine too. slow short cold cycle. no dryspinning, and adjusted washing liquids. oh, and i add some other random items, not good to wash it on its own (for snags),

Thanks a bunch... by majority vote, I'll try handwashing it and hope for the best!
