Products You've Cheated On
During my snow walk (I get in my morning constitution by walking in knee-deep snow every morning on my way back from walking the partner to work) I thought about the products I've used for years and years and years and years and years and years (yes I'm that young ..g.:), cheated on, came back to, cheated on again, came back to again, and concluded that it will never let me down, like a faithful spouse.
They have been Aveda concealer in "Bamboo," The Body Shop's liquid eyeliner in Black, and DHC Velvet Skin coat. Not sexy products, and I'll probably cheat on them again but lo and behold there will always be doubles, triples of them in the back of my fridge, waiting with open arms. ..c::
Any products (makeup, skincare, haircare, etc.) that you've used faithfully, then cheated on but came back to and will always use as long as they're being made?

Re: Products You've Cheated On
This is lame but I have to use Head and Shoulders for Dry Scalp (the regular doesn't work). I have tried lots of things on the market but I keep coming back to this cheap-o because it's the only one that works for my scalp and saves me from embarrasing situations. When I was very young, my mother used Almay Shampoo on my hair due to the same problem until Almay stopped manufacturing it. My dry scalp is a very uncomfortable condition. Without H&S Dry Scalp, I'd be miserable.
Facial products I'm faithful to include Clinique base, powder, & concealer. It keeps me from extreme breakouts.

Re: Products You've Cheated On
L'oreal Lineur Liquid Eyeliner, Brush (not felt) Tip, Black
Classic black liner, and for some reason I find the super long applicator is easier to use than shorter ones that put my hand closer to my eye.
Also, I am currently having an affair with a black cherry gel eyeliner that dries to a nice, almost un-smudgeable line, but I know it's just an on again/off again fling. I got it from Aromaleigh but she says it's a third party product they carry that you can get from other companies.

Hijacking the thread for a few seconds here but...

Azhia, luv, you're making us sound like Polar Bears Nirvana up here.
Surely not every morning ..l;,..l;,
Cover Girl Liquid Pencil in Black x 2
And I've recently caved and bought a Shisheido lipstick (at 30$ ! EEK!) and I might've found a soul mate for life.

Me too! I have come back time and again to Voluminous, though I only recently discovered the carbon black. Have you seen the carbon in waterproof? Wondering if it exists outside of Maine...L'Oreal Voluminous Carbon Black mascara
Another for me is CoverGirl AquaSmooth~ I go through phases with foundation where I wear it and I don't and then through phases where what type I wear changes but I do always come back to this.
And Palmer's cocoa butter~ right now I'm in an Aveeno phase and I love it but I'm sure I'll see PCB on my shelf again!

Re: Products You've Cheated On
Clinique Quickliner for Eyes in violet and black/brown. I even use the black/brown for eyebrows (after running it over a brush) for the stage. BEST colors, stays allllll day. Rock star tight line.
And I usually dislike Clinique.

Me too...and yet I´ve just ordered three backups of the discontinued Quick Eyes(the eyeliner with matching shadow in the cap)in Double Coffee.
It´s very convenient to carry in my bag for everyday makeup.
MAC Studio Fix.
MAC Slimshine in "Scant"...expensive but feels great on-doesn´t expose flakes on lips at all.
Scant is a flattering MLBB(My Lips But Better)everyday color.
MAC "Whirl"lipliner.
Shiseido lipliner in "Mauve Brown"
Both are MLBB colors, both have to be sharpened.
I don´t like automatic liners at all(just a preference I have)
LÓreal´s mascara Double Extend& Maybelline´s Lash Discovery(use it for lower lashes)
Lumene´s Cleansing Oil(dissolves ALL makeup, even waterproof+stage)and washes off with water.
Paula Begoun...most of her skincare products.
Restylane..g.:Last edited by emma-bessa; 02-05-2009 at 03:17 PM.

Nivea lotion - the thick kind that comes in the jar, not the pump bottles. (Did they recently change the lotion in the bottles? It doesn't seem as good.)
I stray from Nivea in my search to find something to moisturize my superdry skin, and nothing works better for me than that blue jar.

Re: Products You've Cheated On
Maybelline mascara (various types in fat ugly garish containers) . I don't love it and hate the colorful plastic packaging, but on the rare occasions when I find another brand I like, it has become discontinued - I end up spending $$$$ looking for something more elegant but find when I pick up the old pink/green or orange Maybelline it almost always does a better job. I do not understand this phenomenon . . .

Where, where???? I MUST have it!
sorry....
I always come back to Voluminus Mascara, no matter what I keep trying, and no matter how expensive and fancy they are.......
but honestly I've never seen the Carbon Black in Waterproof, and I live
for Waterproof---I don't wear anything else.

Re: Products You've Cheated On
MAC studio fix here, too.
Maybelline Great Lash, though I've finally found a better lover in Estee Lauder and I won't be going back this time. :)

dermalogica skin care products. Their moisturizer is the best
and Covergirl Lash blast mascara in very black. If you haven't tried it-get it!

Re: Products You've Cheated On
MAC blot powder (although, alas, my budget dictates that I must choose another)
MAC powerpoint eye pencils in black and brown
MAC pigment in canvas - NOTHING anchors my eyeshadow better. Nothing.
Bobbie Brown lipstick in Tulip -- perfect "MLBB" color
Bobbie Brown blush in Desert Rose
And from a skincare perspective --
Zapzit 10% benzoyl peroxide lotion!!! It dries your skin out if you use too much, but NOTHING has ever cleared my skin up like this stuff - and I've tried every fancy dermatological product under the sun. Naturally, the $5 Zapzit sold at Walmart works best. :D

Re: Products You've Cheated On
These are the products that I have strayed from but always came back to and have stayed with for years:
Clinique Dramatically Different Lotion
Clinique Loose Face Powder
Cover Girl Cheekers Blush
Avon Hyrdofirming Night Cream
L'oreal Voluninous Mascara
These are my staples, but I do experiment with various brands/colors for eyeshadows, liners, lipsticks and sometimes, foundations (although I think I found a foundation that will be a keeper).
