Arrow How are things going down at the swap meet?

I'm just curious to know if things are selling or slowing down due to the economy. I am still buying stuff, but that is because I "grew" out of my costumes and am looking for replacments. Although, I am a cheapie so unless the perfect pharonics in my size came in, I won't shell out more than $200 right now.

Anyway, my observation is that the affordable costumes are moving fast $200 and less and the pricey ones are hardly moving...

Are you selling anything right now? How much longer is it taking you to sell stuff than it was, say 6 months ago? Share your worries and frustrations here.

I'm still buying stuff too, but only because I'm a costume addict that refuses to do anything about it. I should totally be on the costume addict thread, but I'm not ready. I have been able to get myself to sell something if I'm buying something though.

I would say about half of the stuff I've tried to sell on the swap page isn't selling and I do think that it's less than what I would have sold 6 months ago. I've noticed things that normally would go in a hearbeat, are lingering. Things like L Rose items, great loops and nice bellas just aren't moving.

It would also seem like there are alot of "window shoppers" out there. Personal rant ahead: When somebody posts/sends a photo you requested or answers a boat load of questions you asked, the polite thing to do is at least respond back with a "thank you, but I'm not interested".

The one thing I've noticed is that people are really reducing stuff when it doesn't sell, rather than taking it off the swap or leaving it at the initial price. There's some mega, mega deals going on right now, but alas I am not willing to sell any of my current beauties to finance another.

Re: How are things going down at the swap meet?

I sold a bunch of stuff in oct/nov and did a massive closet cleaning but now i'm having a hard time moving 3 costumes...they've been up for some time now and they don't get worn...

I'm in canada so I'm able to reduce a bit more, faster because the exchange rate plays out in my favor right now. Howevr, it also prevents me from turning around and buying very much unless it's a good deal or I can trade.

    Yeah, what she said.
I have a few gorgeous costumes that have just been sitting there on the swap. I feel better knowing a lot of great costumes, from a lot of great sellers are just sitting there though. Its not my costumes, its the economy..c::

Ive noticed it too. Compared to when I joined BHUZ a year ago the swap pages have certainly changed! Im seeing Bellas and Pharonics remaining on the boards for much longer than they normally would.Times have definetly changed. In order for me to get a new costume I have to sell one. The exchange rate is awful. A $500 costume costs me around $850 Aussie dollars-wont even go into what a Bella costs me now! Plus there shipping as well.

Everyone is feeling the crunch people need to sell and people dont have the money to buy- viscious circle really.

I hope things turn around soon-especially the exchange rate! So many beauties I wish I could buy!!!!
