Keeping butt-cupping belts cupping your butt?

So I have a performance this evening and just noticed while doing a costume run-through that the butt-cupping belt keeps riding up and bunching. ..cr.:

I think it is because the belt has a slick lining and I am wearing a chiffon skirt underneath. Maybe there is just not enough friction to keep it in place? I have quite a bubble butt so I don't think it is lack of ass although maybe the bottom edge of the belt is too tight? I'm not much of a seamstress so I really don't know how to analyze this.

I don't have time to do any major surgery. Does anyone have any suggestions on a quick remedy?

    Thanks in advance!

Usually when my belts slide up it's because they're too small. If it fits well, the weight of the belt should hold it in place.

If that's the case, you can fix it just by moving the eyes for the hooks over slightly. Even a quarter inch can make a huge difference in fit. Sometimes I just add a second set of hooks, so the belt will fit easily through minor weight fluctuations.

Often just moving the *bottom* hook-eye over a bit does the trick, but sometimes they both/all need to be moved.

You can test by closing your belt with big safety pins.

Try just hooking the top hook and leaving the bottom one unfastened. When both are fastened sometimes this makes the bottom of the belt tighter than the top and in consequence the belt rides up. Make sure you put a bit of velcro near your hooks though to ensure they don't 'unhook' themselves.

if you try lauren and kharis's suggestions and still need more grip, try partially lining the belt in tshirt material or terry cloth if there is enough room. that tends to add "non-slip" on slick skirts.

I have this same problem on my cupping belts, and I've determined I no longer like that style because of the hassle.. The person who does my alterations suggested sewing hooks into the belt to connect it to my body stocking thus keeping it from riding up where it does. Of course, if you don't wear a body stocking this won't help you. :/

I was actually thinking of sewing/pinning some "weights" near the bottom of the underside of the belt to help keep it down. Crazy?
