Costume Graveyards or Rehabs?
Just musing over the swapmeet today and I was wondering - what happens when you "wear a costume out"? Do you just snip off any beads and crystals that you want and toss the rest? Does it get lovingly tucked away in a "can't bear to throw it out" pile? Do you give it to your wickedly brilliant seamstress friend who works some miracles and uses it to create a whole new costume?
I'd love to hear your costume graveyard or rehab stories!

I think we're supposed to send them to Ozma's Home for Wayward Costumes.
So far I haven't had to totally scrap anything yet, although there've been one or two I've passed on to students for $50.

After the Peacock is finished I will be working on bedlah for myself and Eshe AND be turning a donation to Ozma's Home into a bedlah and sharing the process.

Re: Costume Graveyards or Rehabs?
So far, my tactic has been to sell them to my students for really cheap prices.

Re: Costume Graveyards or Rehabs?
It it were too worn out for a pro gig but fine for a student recital or just something fun to bop around the living room, like Shira I'd try to sell it to a student for a very minimal cost (either in RL or on Bhuz).
But if it's damaged to the point where it's completely unwearable, I'd donate it to ozma, aasiyah or anyone else here who wants parts and bits to transform.

My costumes that dont fit/are worn out/have had a very public career go into "the storage briefcase for the future museum of DaVid's costumes" in our garage... LOL
