My Eman shorts don't fit
I have never been a shorts wearer, even for regular clothes. My thighs are...well...meaty lets just say. and so I bought my first Eman costume on Saturday, wore it Saturday night. and of course the booty shorts in it kinda ride up. the costume has a high slit, so I think the shorts are necessary, and I do really like them, but is there a way to make them bigger somehow so they don't ride/roll up?
And by a way I mean other than my thighs losing an inch. believe me, I'm trying. :)

Re: My Eman shorts don't fit
Are the shorts attached to the costume?
If they're not attached, you could buy or make a pair of shorts to fit you. I've been very pleased with several pairs of shorts that I've bought from River's Edge Dancewear.
TIGHTS, Undergarments & Liners
I have a pattern for boy shorts that I use to make shorts to match my costumes. My lower hip is 36", so if you're somewhere around there, I'd be happy to share my pattern with you.
If this costume's shorts are attached, it may be possible to open them up along the side seams and add a panel of fabric along the sides to make the thigh circumference bigger. Something like this:

Re: My Eman shorts don't fit
I recommend cutting them out and then buying a separate pair to wear underneath. This way, you can toss them in the washer when you need to!!

Re: My Eman shorts don't fit
get a pair of thigh high stockings (the kind that stay up on their own without garters), cut the top part off that has the rubbery grippy stuff, and baste that inside the legs of the shorts.

I second Damiena recommendation. Is more practical.

Re: My Eman shorts don't fit
I have an Eman window pane saidi dress that came with shorts that are like a size 00. Teeny tiny.
I contemplated findind matching lycra to make them bigger, but ended up doing a (rather lengthy) search to find bright pink lycra bike shorts in an appropriate length. I found them! I didn't just google "pink lyrca bike shorts", I also searched for "dance shorts", "cheer shorts" and looked on a lot of dance websites.
I think this is a GREAT option- plus as Damiena says- then you can just throw them in the wash.

Re: My Eman shorts don't fit
Oh honey, I feel your pain with the built in shorts--but in a different direction!..l;, On me, the darned things are always so long in the rise that I have to kind of fold them over and tack them down just above the crotch...and then they usually come further down my thigh than I want to. Sometimes I just give up and get rid of them entirely, but sometimes they're really built into the costume in a way that makes that hard to do.
If they're overall too small for you and easy to remove without otherwise damaging the look/feel of the costume (or giving you a weird bit of leftover fabric in the costume to contend with, Damiena's suggestion may work. If it's more down into the thigh that it gets too snug (but the bum is fine) Ni'mah's suggestion about essentially adding a gore of extra fabric to slit in the side seam might do the trick really nicely too, without messing with the costume as much (and if you're thinking you don't want to change the costume too much for potential resale reasons, this might also be a more subtle option. )

Re: My Eman shorts don't fit
yes well all the comments are when i'm wearing a skirt and dancers can't see my legs :)
thanks for the advice. I don't want to take the shorts out because I think they look good, but I will probably have to.

Re: My Eman shorts don't fit
Can you undo the seem that runs from the inner thigh to the other inner thigh and turn it in to a mini underskirt? It would keep the slit from being too revealing and keep the shorts attached to the skirt. Then, if you felt the need, you could wear boyshorts under the mini.

I just ordered some shorts and I'm going to try that. I think I'll look at cutting out my shorts tonight. Wish me luck!

Re: My Eman shorts don't fit
okay guys, I have a new problem with my eman costume.. the bra gaps when I wear it... so from the side view...there's a decent possibility that my nipples might show. Is the best way to fix that to move the straps in a little? they're so so so close to the side that when i do arm movements (or veil work) it pushes the cups out...exposing (or near exposing and way past my comfort level) me. It sits just fine when I'm not moving....other ideas???
