Thread: using a bead spinner..

so i got one of these things, and its super easy to get the beads onto the curved needle it comes with.

my question is: is there a way to do this with a regular beading needle?
orrrr... how do you get the beads onto a string wiht the regular needle on it afterwards.? i know im not explaining this clearly but my problem is that i cant sew directly with the curved needle so do i have to transfer the beads again onto another string and needle?

Yes you can use a straight beading needle(not a sewing needle-too thick for the beads) my friend does she doesn't like the curved one. You just got to be sure the silk nymo thread(which I recommend to use for the spinner)

Nymo thread can be purchased Wholesale Beads and Jewelry Making Supplies - Fire Mountain Gems and Beads sells it. Its silk thread that is durable for large quantity of beads you want size D because you are putting a large amount of beads, you can also use carpet thread(i like that too for the strength).They even have how to video how tos, which is great. Different thread/wire is needed for different projects. Is this for embellishing a bedlah or just jewelry to match the bedlah or both?

How EVER do you get carpet thread into the eye of a beading needle? I can't get anything thicker than regular sewing thread into mine!

I love the carpet thread too, but the smallest needle I can get it into is an embroidery needle. That seems to work on most beads. Haven't tried it with a bead spinner though.

YES! I've never understood how people did this. I just try to find a really small regular needle and hope it goes through most of the beads.

These are the best ever beading needles flexible and super sharp on both ends. The "eye" is large enough for any thread.

ok, checked them out - is it possible to sew with those needles? you mention that theyre sharp but are they also tough enough to go through fabric?

i got something similar with my bead spinner, but its the one with the curved edge, and so i definately cant sew with it, are the straight ones better?

I've used the straight ones to bead costumes with. I find that it is best to just bead through just the top layers of the fabric. I use the tip of the needle to pick up a few threads of the top layer add beads then repeat. These needles would have difficulty going through multiple layers of heavy fabric, but it isn't necessary to penetrate all the way through the base materials. Embroidery and bead work is still stable when worked through the superficial top layers.

I found I couldn't go through fabric very well with the eye in the middle needle.

Going through heavy fabric, I use the thinnest size quilting hand needles as well. because they are designed to go through multiple layers of fabric. But that's what I'm comfortable using to bead with.
