Thread: Magazine question

Hi there,

I'd like to subscribe to 2-3 BD magazines and was wondering which magazines Bhuzzers would recommend.

If it helps in the rec's, here are a few things to keep in mind:

-I am in Canada, so the mags must ship outside of the country where they are published.
-I don't perform.
-I'm interested in all styles of BD at this point.
-I do make costumes and love to read about that topic and look at inspiring pictures.

Do you have any interest in Canada-specific magazines? If so, there are Mid-Bits (in English) and Papyrus (in French).

I really like Zaghareet. It has a good combinations of columns and feature articles, reviews, and other topics - and covers a bigger area (many other magazines are very regional). They have enough readers and writers that I don't worry about them running out of content.

Shiras: Thanks for those recs. Canada specific (either in French or English) is awesome, but I'd like to subscribe to at least one other, be it US or ME or whatever. Just trying to get exposure to as many different things as possible. Will definitely check out those! Thanks!.

Any other recs for magazines? Which ones do you subscribe to?

As non-US printed magazine lover I have tried almost every possible magazine I have managed to find... in all I think all have their good and bad points but one problem typically is huge amount of advertisements and too big emphasis on local happenings (and quite high subsription rates).

Currently the only magazine (besides Finnish magazines) I subscribe is Australian Bellydance Oasis, which is quite Ok though has very local viepoint (mostly West Australian) - quality of pics and articles is however great and subscription is relatively cheap (7.5$/issue outside Oz)

I should probably give a new try to Zaghareet as so many praise it - I find it bit expensive though especially outside North America as one issue is 10$ (which is normally my "pain barrier"). Cronicles though is even more expensive (13$/issue) and I was not too enthustiastic about it as there seem to be much more advertisements than "real text".

Previously I have been subscribing Jareeda, which I could probably do again as though article quality is not necessarily always so professional it has always been versatile and nice magazine, comes 8 times/year and issue price even outside N-A is only 6$ so I would say that it has probably the best value in all...

British Mosaic (which you cannot subscribe but it belongs to membership, which is 37$/year) has at least sometimes included good articles but as it comes out only 3 times in year I think that is not worth the price if you are not able to enjoy other membership benefits.

There have been also great magazines in Germany (Tanz Oriental, OrientMagazine and Halima - at least TO still is available) - but to attract wider readership I guess biggest problem is that they are in German ..l;,

...I really miss good old Habibi though... not any other magazine is even close to it
