finally my mini skirt! need help...

ok so I have wanted a mini skirt costume for a while now, I seached the swap boards for a inexpensive costume I could cut up. So I found one! Here is what it looks like

In this picture I have pulled it up in the back.

My question is should I just mark where I want it to lay and cut? or should I fold it over, hem, then cut? Any advice would be appreciated.

Have someone pin where you want the hemline while you wear it.
Then cut, leaving hem allowance, and hem.
    It's adorable!
Don't listen to me, just proffering unsolicited advice: I love it short in the front and then let it slope longer towards the back. I think it would frame your body and legs nicely and offer a nice overall silhouette to the ensemble.

I was so trying to find one to post as an example! ..l;,
I'll continue to look, I know they're out there...
I think it would look beautiful with the existing design on the fabric, the top, and your figure.

This is not it exactly, but it's the inspiration (the skirt, not necessary the woman or the entire outfit, though Carmen Miranda is kinda kick ass).
Basically you hike it up the front, very similar to the way you are proposing, and keep the back long (the hem gradually gets longer towards the bottom/back. In fact, you might be able to use the extra fabric you harvest from the front and add an extra layer/ruffle to the back.
    Carmen Miranda.
    I'm getting carried away...

You know this is an awsome idea, think I will make a mini out of one of mine. The person I bought it from was a lot shorter than me. Now I don't have to sell it. I can make a mini out of it.....

    Thanks for the idea.

I agree with Azhia's first post. If you do it her way then you also create a nice curvy shape that really compliments your body.

Toria, you are a very brave lady. We must see pics when you actually cut it and hem it..g.: It's going to look gorgeous.
