More Pits: Clinical strength anti-perspirant
I went shopping for a new anti-antiperspirant yesterday and saw that almost every brand is now making a clinical strength version that you apply at night. Has anyone tried one? Did it work? I hate to wear colored shirts, or silk blouses for fear I might get wet pit spots. :o( Funny, I don't sweat anywhere else hardly and I am always cold. Must be nerves.. ..l;,

I've only tried the prescription stuff that prevents you from sweating (I forget the name). It worked well - almost too well, it felt very weird to not sweat!
I don't know if the new over the counter stuff works as well, but it was very easy to have my doctor write a prescription.

Certain-Dri has been around for years (usually on the bottom shelf), and now everyone wants to cut in!
I highly recommend not putting it on freshly-shaved pits. YMMV on the fresh part. If I shave in the morning, that stuff is not going on that night. Ouch.

I use Secret Clinical Strength and I find it to be effective. I do use it at night and during the day I use a crystal deodorant. I no longer have that wet sticky feeling. Another bonus is that my tops no longer get stained with sweat and deodorant.

I worry about the possible link of aluminum to alzheimers...and sweating is good for you...so I don't know if I'd use it on a regular basis.

Has anyone tried DERMAdoctor's Total Nonscents brightening antiperspirant? I've read a bunch of reviews from people who say it has worked for them. It's not cheap at $28 a bottle.

Another thought on the aluminum/alzheimer link, as children my mom used aluminum pots and pans to cook our food so I guess a deodorant won't make much difference at this point.

Re: More Pits: Clinical strength anti-perspirant
When I was in my late teens-early twenties, I perspired very heavily. It was embarrassing, and it really limited what clothing I could wear. Then, someone told me about Drysol. [I know I sound like a commercial here. Sorry.] Drysol is a lotion that you apply every night for a week. When you first start using it, it really prickles and burns. However, after the first week, you need to apply it only once or twice a week, and as long as you don't let it go too long, it doesn't irritate the same way it did in that first week.
You don't need to use any other anti-perspirant besides the once/twice weekly Drysol application, and it works very, very well.
I haven't tried the newer "clinical strength" versions of the more common, name-brand antiperspirants, because this is no longer an issue for me, but if it were, I'd go back to using Drysol.
