    Stop Your Bleeding Lips

I love these tiny pearls of makeup wisdom...

    Perfect lips...

When filling with a strong, dark color, outline again with foundation to keep the line extra crisp.

To prevent bleeding lipstick, line outside your chosen lip line with a clear wax brow pencil. The wax forms a barrier, keeping any lip color from "migrating."

Interesting colors for the season: dove gray (for the nails, too), orange.

    oooooh, so clever!

Azhia, are you familiar with DuWop's reverse lip liner? It's supposed to stop feathering AND plump up small lines. I have good luck with lip plumpers (not making lips visibly bigger, but plumping out fine lines in the lips), but I also have those few fine lines right on the lipline, I'd love to plump those up. Have you worked with it? Does it work?

Clear brow wax pencils are for grooming and taming misbehaving brows. I also set a base of it first and then apply powder shadow to fill in the brows, when texture is not needed (in which case I would then use pencil).
You can get it at drugstore or MAC!

I'm afraid I have not worked with lip plumping products, Lauren, sorry.

I have this Lauren, but mine doesn't mention the plumping thing. It does fill in the fine lines a bit though, because, ummm, you're filling it in with the wax of the lip liner ..l;, It works fine, I like it because I don't get that leftover lipliner line and it works with nude colors. But I like it better now I can use it on my brows!

Thanks. Maybe yours is a different brand, like the Cargo one? I think they make a reverse lip liner but it's not a plumping one like the DuWop. I'll put it on my wishlist.

I wish I had sponsors like Makeda so that I could exponentially increase my beauty booty every day, every week, every month, but alas I am unable to fulfill that fantasy. ..cr.:
I try to stock my kit with multi-purpose items but if lip plumper/line filler is what my clients want, darn it, I'll try some out!

I'm still dying to try out Lime Crime glitters, when I should be the one writing reviews about it. Maybe I willllllllll....

Whoops, you're right, mine is Too Faced. I have the DuWop lip venoms though. They work sorta OK -- they use cinnamon to plump your lips.

Yes, I like the cinnamony smell/taste of lip venom.

I get better plumping action from Lip Injection. My very favorite, though, is Lipfusion, it makes me feel like my lips have been slammed in a car door!

I find I build up a tolerance to ingredients and have to rotate which ones I use.

They don't really work like we'd want them to -- they don't make lips look bigger. But they do make lips look fuller. I didn't realize that my lips had 'deplumped' after 40 until I tried a plumper and looked in the mirror and thought 'oh, hey, yeah, I remember when my lips looked like that!!'

Revlon ColorStay also has a clear lipliner and it is fantastic. I was having major bleed issues before I started using it. Last night, I used concealer over my lips, followed by the clear liner, followed by colored liner, followed by lipstick and it lasted the entire evening without bleeding.

    It doesn't help anyway. I spend just as much money, if not more. You never get enough. You can never get everything you want. Companies send you the products they want you to pimp, not necessarily the ones you want to try. And then, a majority of the stuff they send sucks. So, there you go.,r:;

Lauren, I've worked with DuWop's Reverse Lip Liner and I was quite disappointed with it.,m:: I don't think it plumped a darn thing. It did work somewhat to lessen the bleeding, but no better than any other ordinary lip pencil. Save your money.

    Re: Stop Your Bleeding Lips

I may have to try some of those plumpers lauren mentions. I'm 40 and even though I take good care of my skin and have never smoked, I have vertical lines above my lips that just beg lipstick to bleed into them. it's so not fair. :(

I have the reverse lipliner and it works fine. I usually just use it for mundane and not for stage, though. for stage, a technique I stumbled upon that really works fantastically for me is to apply a thin line of SheLaq along the edge of my lip going slightly onto the lipstick (rather than over the whole lip, to seal the lipstick to keep it from transfering). it's awesome - zero feathering, all night long.

oh, and a nice dose of juvederm takes care of those pesky vertical lines. happy birthday to me. ;)

Azhia, do you have a pic of someone wearing dove grey lipstick? Sounds interesting but I can't visualize it.

MAC has a dove gray nail polish color in their Hello Kitty collection. I have a bottle but haven't tried it yet.

Thanks Azhia. I'm *loving* the grey for dark skin, but I think on light skin it's too Tim-Burton-goes-glam for my taste. And not so into the orange; though I do love apricot...

Precisely. You can absolutely adjust the color to suit skin tone and shade.
A yellow gray on lighter skin might make one appear corpse-esque but add more white, a hint of pink, and iridescent gloss and it might look fab!
