Thread: Costless

Has anybody in the not-so-far past ordered from Costless? I have my eye on something that's listed on their website, but before I start aggressively selling things to afford it, I am wondering what the deal is - what's listed is actually available?

I haven't ordered anything from them because I was under the impression that they'd gone out of business years ago. Are they still in business?

Cost Less in Berkeley? I was there not too long ago. They no longer make new sets, but they are selling off all the sets they have made up (which there are a few of). Give them a call. I can ask next time I go again, but that won't be for a couple of months probably.

They are still in business.

However, they have changed their focus quite a bit, and mostly offer beads and jewelry fixings. They do still sell high quality chain and coins, but any labor will be up to you.

They also still have some full costume pieces in stock, but you need to call/email and tell them what you want, they will "research "it, and if they still have it, you can buy it. The website is definitely not current.

They do answer the phone and the owner (son of the original owner, who created the original costumes) is very nice.


Edited to add: Hmm, would it be terribly mercenary of me to share the Cost Less costume I am selling on this thread...?

Monica, I am afraid that your costume would be redundant for me: I have silver coin costume that is part Costless. Their work is high quality, classic and beautiful.

Dude, you're killing me... (Although my wallet wants to tell you that it is thankful that this set is not a-gold and b-affordable bc otherwise it would have an empty stomach...l;,)

As I said on that other thread, they should call themselves "Cost More Imports" instead of "Cost Less"...

I bought a Costless set about 8 or 9 months back. They had the exact belt I wanted from the site, but no bra cover to match. he did however have the coins, and was VERY helpful in giving me tips and advice on how to go about making my own matching top.

I am totally in love with the belt. . . even my BF (who has done chainmail and other metalwork) was impressed with the construction, he actually thought it was worth the cost after seeing it.

Ah, Latifa - thanks, and you make me feel like an ungrateful, spoiled brat when I say "But I want a copper-colored costume!" ;-) I actually own a dream silver coin costume (half Cost Less, half third-party custom-design based on a belt that was unavailable in my size).

Anyways, I called Cost Less and talked to a very nice gentleman. He said that they had not updated the website in while, and he had looked up what they had in stock before emailing me. While they still have quite a few sets, the costume I really want has sold :-( Argh! I am leaning towards getting it in a smaller size (bra is listed as B, and I haven't been a B cup for more than a decade), and adding a belly drape myself.

Given how much I have used my silver set for both ATS and oriental performances and how much abuse this set has seen, I actually think that the name "Cost Less" is not completely unreasonable. They are so versatile, and the originals are virtually indestructible --> big bang for the buck!
