    e.l.f. - good value or just cheap?

    my friend just told my about elf today. what do bhuzzers think? its cheap so i'm not expecting the greatest product ever, but i don't want to waste my money on crap (even if its only $1).

    if you are a fan, what products do you like for performances?

    thanks!

    Their eyeshadow is pretty good. Has some sparkle to it. I don't care for their shimmer powder (it doesn't really work the way I think it should) or their bronzing powder. Some of their brushes are crap and some are good. Their lip gloss is pretty sheap. I don't like their eyeliner either. Their foundation is really oily.

    I think that's about all the products that I have. I haven't tried their mineral line though. I wear the eyeshadow for performances all the time. It stays on well and covers really well considering it's $1.

    Hope that helps ..g.:

    Their tweezers are VERY good for the price-
    I keep one in my makeup bag,one at work and one in my bathroom cabinet...
    where it hangs out with my Tweezerman´s.

    (I´m a unibrow girl who looks like Bert if I don´t pluck/thread)

    Check out reviews of e.l.f. at Makeup Alley,so you can find out what others liked/not liked before you buy!

    I like the tweezers and brushes that I have. I do NOT like their mineral foundation- the coverage is poor (and I used the kabuki brush from bare minerals for that, so it's not the brush). It's possible to get adequate daytime coverage, if you like standing at your sink for a long time layering it on. I do like the mineral eyeshadows, a lot. I was happy with the colors of the regular eyeshadows I got, and they applied and blended nicely, but wear off rather quickly (I don't wear eye primer). The mineral blushes I got apply OK, but the colors I got were not quite what I had hoped. I tried their all over color sticks, and really hate those-they're sticky and scented. All in all, the promotional prices they run are so low, it's worth it to me to try their products, even if some turn out to be duds.
    ETA: I have a coupon code- DINE - for a Fandangodotcom movie ticket and a $25 restaurantdotcom gift card (many restrictions apply) with any $20 ELF purchase

    i didn't like the eye shadows. they have oil and/or wax in them.
    when they warm up from dancing, they smear and run easily.
    might be ok for day wear.
    i can not recommend them for dancing

    thanks for all the input. i like that their site has customer reviews, but i'll also check out make up alley. i'm constantly looking for tweezers, cuz hubby never puts them back!! maybe i should be a few pairs for him...,r:;

    do their products come in smaller-than-normal amounts? that would actually be a pro for me, since i don't wear makeup on a daily basis.
