Thread: Does anyone know if Bellydancestore.biz accepts offers?

I reaaallly want a costume that's been up for a while. I know they accept offers on eBay, but does anyone know if they might consider one for a costume in the store?

I know she might if you visit her store here in Maryland. If you are in the DC metro area and schedule an appointment with her and go to her store, then she usually does. Just make sure she's there. Otherwise, I highly doubt it.

I was wondering too! I know a while back the website stated a notice something like this "If you don't like our price make an offer." I have not seen that again.

If you go in and want to try to strike a deal you actually HAVE to make sure she is there.
When she was in Egypt recently her poor son had to deal with a troupe threatening to spread bad words about her online if he didn't go lower. He had instructions for a % he was allowed to go from the website prices...but the troupe said that wasn't enough. Due to this she stopped allowing appointments from people except for when she is there.

Oh, I am far down in Florida. That is sad. Thanks ladies, I wanted to ask before I e-mailed in case it would be rude.

It's still worth asking her I reckon even by email or phonecall.

If you don't ask you don't get, it's gotta be worth a try, the worst she can say is no!

If the costume has been on for a while it wouldn't be rude to make a *reasonable* offer. I'd hesitate if I were making an offer that would be a loss for her, though.

I placed an offer on their ebay store once for a costume I knew she'd had around for quite a while. They accepted the offer, and I got a nice set for a very good price.

I remember that too! It might have been during a clearance sale, though? I'm not sure.

I don't think it would be considered rude at all to say 'Is there any way you could let this costume go for $XX?"

I dont' think she'd get mad or anything, especially since she has clearly accepted offers before. The worst she can say is no, or she might make you a counteroffer. Or who knows, she could say yes!!

I remember her posting here a while back that she's not much of an e-mail person, and my e-mails to her are often answered by someone else. So take a deep breath and try it by phone!!

Um, I think one of those insistent group of customers was our group. Or maybe it is us you're talking about!

About 5 of us went, and yes one of our more vocal members (I won't state her name) said the same thing, but I don't think we were rude. I ended up buying some folkloric peices and pushed a discount, but we were all very disappointed. I'm glad to here that she decided to only do appointments when she is there, because it was pure chaos without her. Wow, word sure did get around, didn't it! ..l;,

I don't know if you've taken from the teacher (not that I recollect, honestly) and I don't want to name any names.
"Word" had not gotten around. I heard it directly from her son and have not spoken of it anywhere. It just seemed relevant on this thread.
The college age son was threatened with "bad publicity for the store" if he didn't offer more of a discount than his mother said he was authorized to give. I'm having a difficult time understanding how the situation that happened would be seen as "not rude". I think it's a very unfair position to put someone in.
Having been shopping in Egypt (and shopping WITH EGYPTIANS in Egypt)- I know what prices are and I am never disappointed with hers.
Group shopping there is ALWAYS chaotic though. It is best for all involved for it to happen when Shahrzad is not in Egypt.

Her prices are already competitive-if you look at the Pharonix-they normally sell for around $750 from other dealers-I bought three Arabesque skirts from her because she was selling them $75 each less than everywhere else- which is fantastic especially given today's economy!

I don't think it would hurt to ask for a discount or Sale price on a costume that has been up for a while :)

One of the Pharonix costumes has a skirt that I am DYING to have with it-but cant justify buying the whole costume for it especially since the bra and belt is way too big. Do you think it is rude to ask for just the skirt???? I have been wondering this for a while? What do you think Samira? It was the gorgeous Lavender one that I think you have modeled :)

OH! THAT one is TO DIE for!!! I WISH that was in my size, but alas...it is absurd on me. She's not breaking apart the Pharaonix full costumes from what I know. I'm really surprised to see that more curvy girl size Pharaonix are still there. They are amazing!!!

I know! but it is way to big for me! I put up a thread in the ISO seeing if anyone wanted the Bedlah set-I may just have to accept defeat ;(

Hee. At least two of them are still there only because I am not independently wealthy!

Miz Samira, I know you model a bazillion costumes and haven't memorized the details of all of them, but do you happen to recall anything about the sizing of that delicious maroon "liquid" skirt? Any chance of it fitting someone about your height but with big hips? ..g.:

If only we were ALL independently wealthy!!! I'd need one of those dry cleaner motorized rotating hanger system for all my costumes!

Luckily I didn't model a bazillion of them (that's Kitty's job) and have pretty good memory for items that touch my body. (oh! that sounds bad!)...OMG! did you see the gold shoes in that pic?? ..l;,..l;, I HAD to make sure they were showing. What else can a girl do when she is wearing glittery gold shoes. Back to the skirt. It was not clipped in back (only one skirt had to be clipped - a black one) - but it also had both a good bit of stretch (and wasn't real snug on me)...and it also has decent length which is important for costumes that are fitted and stretchy material. Unfortunately I can't give you an answer as to how it would work for you...BUT we can always ask them to measure those next for you...and then you can plan a "trying on" trip. You just might need something new to go with your anticipated great loops!

Thanks for giving it a think for me. I did e-mail for measurements on the liquid skirts and any Christinas they might have lying around, so we'll see what comes back. Fingers crossed! I imagine the maroon is too slim, but that blue lycra looks just about perfect. I hope they find the time to measure soon, but I understand how busy things get over there so am practicing patience. (Need a serene-looking smiley for that....)

Just got an email from them about their new shipment...at the bottom it reads

I bought a costume from them on ebay...it was listed at over $500, I offered $350 and they accepted...

Well as my mom says, It never hurts to ask. Call them up and make an offer.
