L. Rose tops question
Hello ladies,
For those of you who have purchased L. Rose tops, which models did you like the best support-wise?
I'm considering the mid-line choli, but I'm a D cup and I wonder what sort of support these have. (I do realize that the "support" would not be like a sports bra but I don't do jumping jacks when I practice either :) ) Also, do you find a big difference between the banded half-top and the regular half-top? Seems to me that the regular half-top might look funny on someone with a generously sized bust, whereas the band might make it look more like a top (straight line at the bottom as opposed to two curves).
Thing is, I don't want to order the sports bra (I'm deathly afraid of the Uniboob) and both the dance bra and the choli bra seem on the flimsy side for "the girls".
Opinions? Insight?
PLMK. Thanks!
Kem.

Re: L. Rose tops question
I am a 36C, and have the choli bra (in cotton and velvet). In case of doubt, I would get a size larger (I ordered a large, and it is not too big). My cups are nicely lined, which provides good support, I am very pleased with that. On the negative side, the choli bra's strings are very stretchy, which decreases support. If they had the option for this model, I would have gone for a band.

Re: L. Rose tops question
If you are a D cup, why not just wear a bra underneath it.

Re: L. Rose tops question
bc the lacing of the choli top would expose the bra

Re: L. Rose tops question
I am a 32DD and I have both the choli bra and the stretch choli (the one that laces up the back but has sleeves instead of straps). I find that the choli bra straps get pulled down in front which looks kind of funny, but maybe I should have ordered one size larger. The stretch choli is great though, it is very supportive. Both styles are lined which definitely helps. I think with the half tops the banded one is a band like on a trumpet skirt and the unbanded is an elastic bottom instead. I have an unbanded one and I wear a sports bra under it, it doesn't look bad, it just looks like a piece of matching fabric in the center where it shows, but if I ordered another I would get it banded. Since you are afraid of uniboob I would suggest whichever you get to get the full pinch option.

Re: L. Rose tops question
What's the diff between full pinch and half pinch? I can't seem to find it explained anywhere on their website. WOuld the Uniboob be a concern with a half pinch?

Re: L. Rose tops question
The full pinch is what is shown in most of the pics on their site, it is a gathering in the center from the top of the choli to the bottom, imagine taking the unpinched one and just cinching it together in the middle. It creates a nice shape. The half pinch is where it is cinched from the top to about mid-boob and the bottom is unpinched.

Re: L. Rose tops question
I have the long-line choli and I don't find it to be supportive enough.
I've worn the half-top and if it's the right size, it actually holds them up but you might get "nipplage". You can wear a bra underneath though.
I also wear the dance bras - now that my cup size has gone from small D to DD/E, I can wear another bra underneath them. This time we got our tops with the band..I'm on the fence on whether it helps support more or less.
Okay this is a really old video that reveals the fact I used to be in a tribal troupe but I think it's handy because it shows 3/4 troupe members with (I think) D cups wearing unbanded half-tops and you can judge the support level we had.

Re: L. Rose tops question
Thanks so much everyone! That really helps! And Nepenthe, thanks for the vid that helps tremendously. I've never ordered from L.Rose, hence the questioning. I think I might be leaning towards a half pinch banded half top or a mid-line choli top (either with double strings or replace the string with a leather cord). I wouldn't have gone towards the half top at first, but I figured I'd ask around what ppl actually think before I make up my mind. Now I just have to pick colors -might be even more of a challenge *g*
I like cool colors... Perhaps one set (top and jazz pants) in navy crushed velvet and one in dusty rose... Or turquoise? Or fuschia? I want at least one set in a bright color for class (I wear enough neutrals in the office!)
